Park Hill Ponies

Well, this is not the post I ever wanted to make, but this morning Katie has passed away. Surrounded by the whole family, her horse buddies and even the barn cat came down to the paddock and sat with her. She became too weak in her back legs and was struggling with discomfort.
In the horse world, there is a saying about good horses that they are 1 in a million, but Katie was so much more than that, she was 1 in a trillion. We had so many great family times with her, and I know that she filled her little riders with confidence and the joy of riding. If that was her mission in life, then mission well and truly complete.
We have no plans to get another pony so the website has been taken down. Thank you to everyone who came out and had a ride with Katie, she loved interacting with little people. And of course there was always hugs with Georgia no matter how big she got.

Katie has just completed her 8 week 'box' rest and is back out in the field to strengthen her hind leg 🤞we hope the vet will give us the good news about her future.

Katie is currently having a hip issue and is not sound, we are hoping she has just twisted it somehow on the hill as it has come on rather suddenly and that it is not arthritis. All pony rides have been suspended until she is ok again.

Well, we've reached saturation point and the water has nowhere to go so, I'm taking down the bookings for the next week and fingers crossed it will drain away. I've never had it this wet in 9 years!

From Winter drab to springtime fab! Katie very relieved to have all that hair removed. Just waiting for a nice day for a bubble bath. Had to leave the legs on as she's ticklish.

The HM Shed is up and running, with various bits, shoes, feedstuffs, bandages, first aid etc all hands on. For once we won't freeze in a clubroom as the fire makes it toasty and it has a kitchenette just waiting to serve up a yummy morning tea! Of course there is a bathroom and yards close by with 3 willing models just ready to be saddle fitted or bandaged or have their conformation examined. I have run these courses for the last 5 years to help riders gain the HM requirements for their certificates, with the new pony club addiitons at D+-B there is even more to learn. So what are you waiting for!
