Finally getting through all my scraps to make more dog beds. Sent the last two off to SPCA along with the last of the unsold dog coats and snuffle mats.
Who should these ones go to? They’re best suited to medium or large dogs….

That’s it! End of July has come. The website will be taken down today. You can still contact me via Facebook, Instagram or [email protected] All existing product left at the end of the day will be donated to one or two of my favourite animal charities. It’s almost time to say goodbye. This is the last of the stock left…
So, what’s next? Any stock left over will be donated to animal shelters. A couple of small coats will be kept for the orphan lambs.
A huge thank you to everyone that supported this fledgling business.
Urban Hound will still be lurking in the background for those bespoke pieces you need for your animals.

There’s been a lot of soul searching over the last few months. I stopped doing markets as they could be so demoralising; I met some wonderful people who filled my cup, but ultimately it was not sustainable. I went online only and again, some fabulous orders coming in. Realistically a small business needs to be able to dedicate 100% of their time to their small business and I just can’t. I truly believe in my products that are all handmade by me, I know they’re great quality BUT I’m competing with the prices of mass produced items that are generic, and appeal to most people’s wallets.
Thank you to all you awesome folks that supported this little one person band. You always made my day. Check out the website for reduced items.

A busy week at Urban Hound with awesome orders coming through… Including this coat made especially for Tully, a Shih Tzu x Poodle. A little girl with a lot of hair! She needed a size in between a small and medium. Perfect coat for the poopy weather we’re experiencing in Otautahi at the moment.

…but what size coat do I get for my dog?! There is a sizing guide on the website AND we can customise to fit your dog’s needs. The photos here show lots of different sized dogs wearing the coats. Staffy Lexi fills out her large, whereas Staffy X Brie has room to grow in hers! Mia, our retriever, fits the large pretty perfectly (although is not a fan of coats having a very fluffy coat that doesn’t come off) Scout, our collie, is petite and fits the medium perfectly, but could do with the large length to have an even better fit.
