Elf on Microchip Duty!
Today our clinic elf has taken over the microchip scanner and is sitting in front of the New Zealand Companion Animal Register — the database where ALL pet microchips should be registered.

Microchipping is fantastic… but it’s only half the job.
If your pet’s microchip isn’t registered (or the details aren’t up to date), it can be extremely hard — and sometimes impossible — to get them back home.

Why Registration Matters

• Vets rely on the Companion Animal Register to match a microchip to an owner
• Even if your pet is chipped, we can’t contact you without the correct info
• Registered + updated = the highest chance of being reunited quickly

Check Your Details Are Current

Moved house? Changed phone number? New email?
It only takes a couple of minutes to update online — and it can make all the difference if your pet ever goes wandering.

Our elf is doing his best… but the real magic happens when your pet’s microchip is correctly registered AND kept up to date.
A quick check today could be what brings them safely back tomorrow.

Follow along as he pops up every day at 8 AM with fun, festive, and informative posts — from puppy and kitten care, to keeping your farm animals safe and sound over the holidays.

How exciting to have three CD bred horses in the richest turf race in the world, and what a result!!! A massive congratulations to the Aurets who bred Ka Ying Rising absolutely showing them all how to do it, Little Avondale Stud with Jimmystar running 3rd, and War Machine bred at Ardsley Stud for even making the field. We shall see more of all of them in the future. Three quality horses. Per Incanto…sire of Jimmystar and grandsire of Ka Ying Rising.

Antibiotics are one of the most important treatments in human and veterinary medicine - but they are losing their effectiveness. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) causes over a million deaths per year in humans. We are also seeing bacterial infections with resistance to multiple drugs in horses. The horse also relies heavily on the normal healthy bacteria to function and thrive and antibiotic treatment depletes these protective organisms, allowing only resistant microbes to multiply without competition. Antibiotics are life saving treatments when used appropriately as needed. When used in situations where the horse would recover without them, they are potentially dangerous to your horse and increase the chance of resistant organisms as well as a waste of money. Please don’t be offended if you are questioned by vets about your horse’s needs and if they choose not to prescribe an antibiotic in a situation where it may have been used in the past. We are trying to ensure the continued health and wellbeing of your horses and the human race

Coolmore are excited to announce a partnership with Rupert Legh and his partners in War Machine for The Everest 2025.

“Coolmore has a long standing relationship with the Hayes family and we’re delighted to team up with Ben, Will and JD for our slot in The Everest this year”, said Coolmore Australia Principal, Tom Magnier. “Similarly, there are very few people that put as much into racing as Rupert Legh, so it’s great to offer him and his partners a place in this great race. The last two winners of the race have come through the Stradbroke, so it’s a proven formula, and we’re looking forward to what promises to be another great edition of the race.”
