Elf on Microchip Duty!
Today our clinic elf has taken over the microchip scanner and is sitting in front of the New Zealand Companion Animal Register — the database where ALL pet microchips should be registered.
Microchipping is fantastic… but it’s only half the job.
If your pet’s microchip isn’t registered (or the details aren’t up to date), it can be extremely hard — and sometimes impossible — to get them back home.
Why Registration Matters
• Vets rely on the Companion Animal Register to match a microchip to an owner
• Even if your pet is chipped, we can’t contact you without the correct info
• Registered + updated = the highest chance of being reunited quickly
Check Your Details Are Current
Moved house? Changed phone number? New email?
It only takes a couple of minutes to update online — and it can make all the difference if your pet ever goes wandering.
Our elf is doing his best… but the real magic happens when your pet’s microchip is correctly registered AND kept up to date.
A quick check today could be what brings them safely back tomorrow.
