🐾 HAPPY WORLD DOG DAY 🐾
Today is all about celebrating the dogs who bring their own very unique personalities into our lives — and we all know no two are quite the same. 😂💚

So, in honour of World Dog Day, describe your dog without telling me their breed.

Here’s my crew…
1. 👑
Tiny body. CEO energy.
Has never questioned whether the world revolves around her.
Age has brought wisdom. It has not brought tolerance.
The undisputed queen of the household.
2 🐻
Approximately 90% dog, 10% wrecking ball.
Looks intimidating. Is actually a giant goofball.
Personal security detail that requires constant snacks.
No concept whatsoever of his own size.
3 🤪
Professional chaos coordinator.
Everything is exciting. EVERYTHING.
Personal space is merely a suggestion.
Life motto: Why walk when you can bounce?
4 🤍
The wise old lady of the group.
Has seen enough nonsense to be thoroughly unimpressed.
Knows exactly what she wants — and expects you to know too.
Sweet, slightly stubborn and absolutely entitled to the good life.
Will consider your request and get back to you in 3–5 business days.

👇 Your turn — describe your dog without telling me their breed!

This is Luna, the most gorgeous little girl with a BIG love of adventuring - sporting her brand NEW RUFFWEAR HARNESS! 🐾⛰️

She recently came in for a professional harness fitting because her usual harness was rubbing when she wore it on longer walks. And because Luna LOVES her big adventures, we wanted to make sure she could explore in complete comfort and safety.

I fitted Luna with our most-recommended Ruffwear Flagline™ Harness—and honestly, these harnesses are THE BEST!

Why we love the Flagline:

🐾 Six adjustment points for a secure, personalised fit
🐾 Lightweight and comfortable for all-day adventures
🐾 A supportive chest and belly panel that distributes pressure evenly
🐾 An extra belly strap for greater security
🐾 A padded handle for safe, balanced lift-and-assist support—which Luna’s mum specifically wanted so she could easily help Luna over bigger obstacles, such as fences
🐾 Three lead attachment points
🐾 Reflective trim for better visibility in low light
🐾 A fur- and debris-resistant lining for easier cleaning

The right harness shouldn’t rub, restrict movement or cut an adventure short. It should allow your dog to explore comfortably, freely and safely—just like Luna can now! 💚

Does your dog’s harness rub, slip, restrict their shoulders or simply never seem to fit properly? Get in touch to arrange a Ruffwear harness fitting and let’s find the right fit for your adventures. 🐕🌿

We’re always looking for the next thing to add.

Another supplement.
Another product.
Another treatment.
Another way to optimise our health.

And sometimes those things are absolutely needed.

But sometimes supporting wellbeing isn’t about adding more.

It’s about going back to the things our bodies have always known 🌿

☀️Sunlight.
💨Fresh air.
💃Movement.
👣Bare feet on the earth.
🌄Time in nature.
💦Water.
😴Rest.
🫶Connection.

Simple things that have slowly become less and less a part of everyday life.

We can spend a fortune trying to manufacture wellness,
while overlooking some of its most basic foundations.

Sometimes we don't need more........

Sometimes we just need to get back to basics. 💚

Vaccinations should be given when they're needed not simply because a certain amount of time has passed.......

Our very first titre testing day here in Blenheim was a HUGE success!!!
With a completely booked-out day, we tested 15 dogs, giving their owners valuable information to help make vaccination decisions based on their individual dog’s immunity — rather than the calendar.

And even amongst just 15 dogs, we saw some really interesting results…

🐾 A 6-month-old puppy whose final puppy vaccination was given at 12 weeks rather than 16 weeks — yet her titre showed strong protective antibody levels and she won't require her follow up 12 month vaccination.

🐾 A 9-year-old dog who hadn’t been vaccinated for at least four years, possibly longer — and she STILL had very strong protective antibody levels. This means she will not require vaccinating or another check for a couple of years.

🐾 A dog still within the standard three-year vaccination interval, having been vaccinated only two years ago — yet her titre was completely negative. This means her vaccination history alone could not be relied upon as evidence of circulating antibodies, and there is a possibility that she may be a non responder (meaning that she doesn't respond to vaccinations)
So further investigation is required.

Without titre testing, we wouldn't have known any of this.
Some dogs may have been vaccinated again despite already having measurable protective antibodies.
And another may simply have been assumed to have protection because she was still “up to date” according to the calendar.

Holistic health is about treating the animal in front of you .......

Both myself and Dr Jacqui Snell from Veterinary Holistic Healthcare believe in healthcare that is thoughtful, informed and individualised to each animal.

Bringing titre testing to Blenheim is another step towards giving local pet owners more information and more options when making healthcare decisions for their animals.
And after the response to our first day, I certainly don’t think this will be our last! 🐾💚

🐾 My busiest week to date — more than 30 dogs helped. 🐾

More than 30 dogs supported to feel better, move more freely and live with less pain.

There was a time when this exact moment was simply a dream—one I never truly believed could come true.

I feel incredibly grateful that I now get to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and their families here in Marlborough. 💚

But this week has also reminded me why one of my greatest passions in animal health is education and informed decision-making.

Making the best decisions for your pet means having all the relevant information—not only being told what the options are, but understanding the potential benefits, risks, side effects and alternatives.

Unfortunately, there are still gaps in the way this information is communicated.

This week alone, I spoke with pet owners who:

🐾 Had not been fully aware of the potential side effects associated with Beransa—until their dog experienced concerning changes.

🐾 Did not know the symptoms of canine cognitive dysfunction, often called “doggy dementia,” or the different ways their dog could be supported.

🐾 Had not understood the seriousness of a cruciate injury, the risk of further damage, or the restrictions and rehabilitation needed to give their dog the best chance of recovery.

These owners had sought veterinary advice. They cared deeply about their animals and wanted to make the right decisions—they simply did not have all the information they needed.

This is not about pointing fingers at vets (We need them and they do a great job !!). It is about acknowledging that gaps in communication exist, and that we can do better!!!

When pet owners are properly informed, they can ask better questions, understand their options and make choices that feel right for their individual animal.

If you have a senior pet and have been told they are “just getting old” or are simply “showing signs of ageing,” that may be true—but it does not mean there is nothing we can do to help.

Reach out, and let’s talk about how we can better support them through this stage of life.

🚨If your pet seems more uncomfortable, restless, doesn’t want to walk as far, hesitates at the stairs or before getting into the car, or is less interested in interacting, there may be an underlying pain component contributing to those changes.

It may be part of ageing, but that does not mean we should simply accept it. Let’s see what we can do to improve their comfort and quality of life.

🚨If your pet has experienced a possible reaction or side effect from medication, or you are worried about a treatment or its potential risks, let’s talk it through.

🚨And if your animal is injured—or you would like advice about reducing their risk of injury—let me know. Prevention is always better than cure, and I would love to help you put a plan in place.

You deserve to understand your options.

Your pet deserves care that considers their whole health, comfort and quality of life.

Because when we are better informed, we can make better choices—and create better outcomes for the animals we love. 🐾💚

I had to say goodbye to a beautiful patient last week 😢
I was fortunate enough to be able to visit him on his last day and I wanted to take him a treat - so I did the old McDs drive through and picked up some chicken nuggets and ice cream 🍦

He LOVED the chicken nuggets - not so fussed on the ice cream 😝

But it got me thinking about what foods my own dogs would love but aren't allowed.......

And that got me pondering, if I could let my fur babies try a few "forbidden" foods before they crossed the Rainbow Bridge, what would be on the menu? 🌈❤️

My list started with :
🍔Cheeseburger
🍗KFC chicken
🍟French fries
🎂Cake
🧁Marshmallow
🧆Chicken nuggets
🥓Bowl of bacon
🍫Chocolate bar

Now its your turn, I'd love to hear your ideas 💡

Comment below with foods you think your pet would love to try????

🐾 TITRE TESTING IS COMING TO BLENHEIM! 🐾

We're excited to announce that Stacey Brown from Paw Energetics, in conjunction with Dr Jacqui Snell from Veterinary Holistic Healthcare, will be holding a Titre Testing Day here in Blenheim.

🧪This is a fantastic opportunity for local dog owners to access in-clinic antibody titre testing that hasn't previously been available.

🩸So, what is titre testing?🩸
A titre test is a simple blood test that measures your dog's antibody levels against parvovirus and distemper.
Rather than guessing whether your dog is still protected, a titre test tells us whether they still have protective immunity or not.
For many dogs, immunity from their core puppy vaccinations or previous boosters lasts for many years—sometimes much longer than expected.
Instead of automatically administering another vaccine, titre testing allows us to make an informed decision based on your individual dog's immune response.

🐶 Your appointment includes:
✔️ In-clinic antibody titre test for Parvovirus & Distemper
✔️ General health check carried out by a Veterinarian
✔️ Discussion of the results and what they mean for your dog
✔️ Guidance to help you make informed vaccination decisions
✔️ Results entered and signed off in vaccination book

Why choose titre testing?
🐾 Confirms whether your dog already has protective immunity.
🐾 Helps avoid unnecessary core vaccinations where appropriate.
🐾 Supports a personalised approach to your dog's healthcare.
🐾 Provides peace of mind by replacing guesswork with evidence.

📜It's important to understand that titre testing is not about being anti-vaccination. Rather, it's about ensuring your dog receives the right vaccination at the right time. Vaccination is an incredibly important part of preventive healthcare, but if your dog already has protective immunity, titre testing allows future vaccination decisions to be guided by scientific evidence rather than routine schedules.

📅 Wednesday 12th August 2026
📍 55 Main Street, Blenheim
💲 $110 (includes the in-clinic titre test for Parvovirus & Distemper and a general health check)

⚠️ Spaces are limited and bookings are essential.

If you've ever wondered whether your dog still needs a core vaccination, are unsure what titre testing actually involves, or simply want to understand more about your dog's immunity, we'd love to help.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions—there's no obligation to book, and we're always happy to chat.
