A beautiful new chapter is beginning for Leighjoyce and Billie 💚

Billie has been placed as a succession Mobility Dog, continuing the incredible support Leighjoyce experienced with her previous Mobility Dog. Their bond is growing stronger every day, and the joy they bring each other is undeniable. We’re so proud of this fabulous match!

Excuse me… I think there’s been a bit of a mix-up. I’m in training to be a Mobility Dog, which means I take my food very seriously. 🐾

So imagine my surprise when I sat nicely by this big delivery… only to discover it was a whole pallet of cat food. CAT food! 😅

Not quite what I had in mind, but hey — staying calm in unexpected situations is part of the job! 💚

Not everyone knows what a Mobility Dog actually does. These extraordinary dogs are specially trained to support people with physical disabilities by assisting with everyday tasks like:
🐾 Retrieving dropped items
🐾 Opening and closing doors
🐾 Carrying small bags
🐾 Helping with balance
🐾 Pressing buttons for pedestrian crossings or lifts
They’re not pets—they’re trained working partners. And for many of our clients, they’re the key to living more independently, confidently, and safely.

💚 It’s International Assistance Dog Week! 🐾
This week is all about recognising the incredible dogs who give independence, confidence, and companionship to the people who need them most.

Our “My Mobility Dog is my everything” campaign celebrates these life-changing partnerships, raising awareness of the vital role Mobility Dogs play in our community. From learning the smallest tasks to providing unwavering support, these dogs truly are everything to the people they help.

Join us in celebrating their impact and help us spread the word – because together, we can make sure more people understand just how extraordinary these dogs are. ✨

We’re excited to launch our new Education & Awareness Campaign — shining a light on why Mobility Dogs exist, who we support, and how these incredible dogs change lives every single day.

Many Kiwis still don’t know what a Mobility Dog is — or the difference one can make for someone living with a disability. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing stories, facts, and behind-the-scenes insights into the training, partnerships, and people at the heart of our work.

💚 My Mobility Dog is my everything – extraordinary dogs trained to change lives.

Happy International Day of Friendship! 💚🐾
At Mobility Dogs, we see the power of friendship every day — like the special bond between Suzy and her Mobility Dog, Reid.

Reid does more than support Suzy with practical tasks — he’s her constant companion, bringing confidence, comfort, and joy. It’s a partnership built on trust, loyalty, and love — the very best kind of friendship.

💚 We’re excited about our new partnership with RAW (Reclaim Another Woman) to support wāhine on their journey through rehabilitation and reintegration. As part of Puppies in Prison, Jane helped raise and train several of our Mobility Dogs during her time with the prison programme.

Now on parole, Jane is continuing her journey by volunteering with us—and she’s currently looking after Quinn! They’re both thriving, and it’s a joy to see them together. This partnership with RAW is creating real opportunities and positive futures for people and pups alike. 💚🐾

Eddie the Mobility Dog in training took on a whole new kind of challenge recently — the arcade! From flashing lights to loud games and excited crowds, Timezone was the perfect place to practise staying calm and focused in a busy environment.

Spoiler: Eddie handled it like a champ 💚 (although we’re not sure who enjoyed the Piano Keys more...)

🚠 Jimmy and Mobility Dogs trainer Grant took their training to new heights on the Skyline Queenstown! This kind of exposure helps our dogs build confidence in all kinds of environments — even ones with stunning views.

Huge thanks to the team at Skyline Queenstown for supporting our work and welcoming Mobility Dogs onboard! 💚🐾

Lumi and Mobility Dogs trainer Sarah popped into Accessable this morning to collect a very special delivery – a generous $3,808 donation raised through their recent staff fundraising efforts! 🐾💚

We’re incredibly grateful for Accessable’s generosity and the impact they’re making for dogs like Lumi and the people we support. Thank you for championing our mission and helping to change lives—one paw at a time.

We’re not saying she was ready to join the team... but let’s just say her focus was on point 💚

Mobility Dogs - Life changing loyalty

Mobility dogs are trained to offer practical support, companionship and security. They transform the lives of New Zealanders living with disabilities and we can’t do it without your support.
