🚨 URGENT NOTICE 🚨
It is with deep concern that we inform you of a significant parvovirus outbreak in Auckland, with six confirmed cases reported today. To safeguard the well-being of our beloved pets, your collaboration during this critical period is essential.
Recognising the common symptoms of severe vomiting, profuse, often bloody diarrhea, and lethargy is vital. If you observe any of these signs, please remain in your car upon arrival and promptly inform us.
Importantly, parvovirus is preventable through vaccination. Starting at $70 for puppies and $75 for adults, our vaccination services are a key defense against this potentially devastating disease. Ensuring your pets are up-to-date on vaccinations is not just a precaution; it's a commitment to their long-term health and happiness.
For clients with symptomatic dogs, please note that a minimum deposit of $150 is now required to cover the consultation and parvo test—critical for early detection and treatment.
We share with you a picture of Aree, one of our outpatients today. With her owners' consent, we aim to raise awareness. She is receiving subcutaneous fluids, and injectable pain relief, antinausea and antibiotics. We do not know if she will survive this.
It's crucial to mention that, currently, we don't have quarantine facilities to accommodate intensive care of these cases. Therefore, we can only treat parvovirus cases as outpatients to prevent spreading the virus to our vulnerable patients who also come to see us.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call us or email us.
