Since Willow got sick she has been getting the . 524 signatures, lets make it a round 1,000. There must be 1000 bunny lovers out there who want protection for their loved pets from these two viruses that are killing thousands in Australia. The current Vaccine does not work against RHDV2 or RHDV-K5.

1) We have received an email from the manufacturer of the current Cylap vaccine that states “Regarding the RHDV-K5 strain, limited research conducted by the NSW government indicates likely protection by Cylap RCD against the K5 strain. However, Zoetis cannot guarantee the efficacy of Cylap RCD against the K5 strain.”
2) The RSPCA of Australia state that there is no vaccine for RHDV-K5.
3) The Australian Minister for Agriculture has stated during a television interview that Cylap does not work against K5 and RHDV2 because “if you pet rabbit gets it, your pet rabbit dies”, and
4) RHDV-K5 belongs to a newer subgroup of RHDV, now referred to as RHDVAVa, and is genetically quite different to RHDV1 and RHDV2

Companion Pet Rabbits in New Zealand deserve the same level of protection as all other household companion pets, they are not lesser pets. Hey guys! I know I have been a bit quiet on the page lately and yes I am still taking a break. But I hope to still post on here to bring you educational posts and try and answer any questions you have! I have had a lot of changes going on in my life and would like to update you all. I have recently started a new job which I am very excited about and loving. I am currently working at Vet Care Unitec at the teaching hospital, where we teach all the first year baby nurses coming through, which is another passion of mine next to buns! Although I don't get to work with buns everyday like I did at the exotic clinic, I will be starting up a bunny blog with Vet Care so stay tuned! If there are any topics you would like me to write about let me know!

It has been just over 3 months since we lost Lua and I still miss her dearly everyday. Stewie has opened up a whole new personality to us since she has been gone since he didn't have her to spend his time with. He has formed a stronger bond with us, which we are so happy to see! But even though he loves spending his time with us we couldn't bear to see him on his own so we have adopted a new girlfriend for him, Willow a 3.5 year old mini lop. We ended up doing crash bonding with them and they were good friends after spending a couple of days together grooming each other and hanging out in the back yard! After the two days they were even close enough to start sharing the Wendy house together! I have also started up an IG account for them so if you want to keep up on their daily antics then pop over and follow them. I will also be posting the occasional educational post on their IG account.
