🌸 Auckland City Kitties is closed (for now!) 🌸

Yesterday, James and Winter — the last two kittens in my care — found an incredible forever home together, officially closing the 2024–2025 season.

The first kittens arrived back in October, and since then, it’s been a season full of love, heartbreak, and resilience.

I faced some incredibly tough challenges: a panleukopenia outbreak in November that nearly shut me down, followed by a ringworm outbreak that came close to doing the same.

At one point, I had almost 40 kittens in care — all managed solo, with no foster homes.

Running this rescue is always exhausting, but every tiny life saved made it worth it.

Thank you to everyone who supported me — through kind words, donations, or simply cheering us on with sharing posts and awareness.

Now it’s time for a well-earned rest.

I’ll be back when the next season begins — ready to welcome more needy little paws into care. 🐾💛

The stunningly handsome Ruby was adopted today!

Much like his brother, Porter who was adopted last weekend, Ruby is a painfully shy kitten.

Today Cara and family decided to give Ruby a chance …

The shy and timid cats and kittens deserve loving forever homes too - and they often flourish once adopted and given lots of attention and one-on-one time.

RUBY 🐈‍⬛

Ruby was born in late February, so he’s currently 5 months old.

Ruby is shy, and quiet who seeks out the company of my other cats and my dogs for his entertainment.

He’s a handsome little man, with a sleek shiny jet black coat who desperately deserves a home and family of his own - someone who’s willing to give him a chance, who won’t demand cuddles and lap time and will let Ruby move as his own pace, as he grows to trust you.

He happily sleeps on my bed next to me and/or on the couch / chair next to me while I work.

Porter was adopted today.

A gorgeous family with lots of love to give decided to give him a chance.

Porter has been at ACK since April when he came in as a poorly little 6 week old kitten.

He’s battled everything and unfortunately due to his naturally protective nature - he became quite shy and sadly, watched all younger and more confident kittens that he helped raise find their homes.

Today, Porter, at 5 months old found his forever family!

Please don’t overlook the slightly older, more timid kittens when you’re looking to adopt.

I can hand on heart tell you, they make the BEST forever friends. 🐾

How has no one snapped up this beauty yet!!!!!!!!!

Adorable little Quinn is just 4 months old and very patiently waiting for a family to adopt her.

Quinn was one of four kittens rescued as tiny 4 week olds and bottle raised by me so she’s used to being handled and cuddled. She’s been raised with my dogs and other cats so she’s well socialised. She’s super playful and would do well with another cat/kitten to play with too.

She’s desexed, microchipped and fully vaccinated and up to date with her flea/worm treatments.

Quinn is fostered in Ponsonby. A small adoption fee ($200) is asked to help cover some of my costs.

Winter was desexed, microchipped and vaccinated today, thanks to the team Lynfield Vets.

She came through the procedure like a champ and never once let her guard down to let anyone think she was a friendly puss!

Winter is slowly but surely warming up to humans and cuddles - her most favourite treat ever are the squeezy treats and she will do almost anything for one.

Her second favourite thing is belly rubs which will have to wait a few days while she heals up post surgery.

Meet Winter … she’s a wee 16 week old kitten, who’s been given a big second chance in life.

Winter was found “paralysed” on someone’s front lawn after being attacked by a dog. She was handed in to the team at Lynfield Vets.

Turns out she wasn’t paralysed physically but she was emotionally. Her temperature had dropped to 32 degrees and she was in a state of shock.

The vet team cleaned up and treated her wounds and somehow managed to convince me to take her into care for rehabilitation until she’s ready for desexing etc.

Winter is very traumatized and frightened but she’s not “wild”…

She needs lots of love, handling and good nutrition and then, fingers crossed, she will be ready for a forever home of her own.

Meet MUSO

This little guy was one of a litter of eight kittens. He was one of the smallest kittens for his age that I’ve ever seen!

While his siblings have all now been adopted, Muso has been waiting very patiently for his forever family to come along.

Muso is about 4 months old - and a little chunky monkey now, although he will likely always be small for his age 😊

Muso is desexed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He’s confident with cat-savvy dogs (he LOVES my beagle) and other cats too. All kittens leave my care up to date with their flea/worm treatments and their microchips registered to their new family

Muso is cheeky and playful and would make a great addition to any family!

An adoption fee of $200 is asked to cover some of my costs.

Meet Bug …

My adorable Mr Bug!

Bug and his siblings were found on the side of the road with their umbilical cords still attached.

A surrogate kitty mama took them in and his siblings found homes.

Bug was clearly the last born, and has struggled with his immunity but now he’s fighting fit and ready for an incredible forever home.

Due to an injury as a baby, we initially thought Bug’s left eye would need to be removed but through sheer hard work and his determination, we saved it. However, he is partially sighted (at best) in that eye. Does that slow him down? NO WAY!

Bug is a medium haired tabby and just delicious. He’s very loving and affectionate and likes to be on/near his human once bonded.

Bug is 4 months old, desexed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

An adoption fee of $200 is asked to help cover some of my costs.

Bug is fostered in Ponsonby - confident with dogs, other cats and likely good with children (given an adjustment period). Please DM the page if you’re interested in adopting him.

HOBIE! - adopted

The only boy in his litter of 4 (he’s brother of CJ, Summer and Quinn) this little ginger and white cutie was bottle raised by me and will shamelessly still try his chances for a bottle on a cold winter morning … at the ripe old age of 16 weeks.

Hobie’s pretty good with new people, confident and cuddly and would be a great match adopted with one of his sisters if anyone is looking for two.

Desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and flea/worm treated, Hobie is ready to go to his forever home this weekend.

A adoption fee of $200 is asked to help cover some of my costs.

Hobie is in Ponsonby for meetings this weekend.
