This is Noodle, my lovely neighbor's dog.
The whole time I was sc******ng his coat, he didn't move, like he knew that at the end of the process, he is going to be even more beautiful 😍

I will write a bit about the importance of grooming in winter.

Also to remind my clients that half grooms ( bath and blow dry, sanitary area, paw pads and nails, face and ears) are the best option to maintain a nice fluffy and longer coat to keep them warm.

Unfortunately I've already had a few dogs with matted areas, and I would like to give some advice on how to maintain the coat in winter/wet season.
Because nobody wants a shaved dog in these chilly months, it is important to brush well and regularly.

- invest in a good sliker brush
- brush in small sections and make sure you've reached all the layers not just the top coat
- line brushing
- do not forget about the armpits, collar area, behind the ears, tummy and the legs after every walk especially if it's raining ( when the coat it's dry)
- never bath the dog before brushing first, as this can cause the coat to get even more compact in certain areas prone to matting
- the jersey can cause matting because of friction, so if your dog is wearing one, brush at least twice per week
- regular nails trim ( do not forget about the dew claws)
- clean and trimmed paw pads ( I see a lot of matting between paw pads in the wet season)
- book them for a full groom every 6 to 8 weeks

We all want their coat to be kept longer in winter, but only a nice clean and fluffy coat will keep them warm.

Hope this helps
I am here for any advice on how to maintain a nice coat for your pup in winter time
Have a beautiful day!
