You guys guessed it… again! We will have to make the next guess who a little harder! The lovely Millie and Casey belong to our very awesome Rebekah.

And without really needing an introduction, but for those new around here, meet Rebekah – Vet Nurse Extraordinaire (and Resident Swiftie)!

Say hello to Rebekah, one of our amazing vet nurses who’s been part of the Evolution Vets family for over four years now! She’s the kind of person who thrives on the technical side of veterinary nursing – if it beeps, spins, measures or monitors, Rebekah probably already knows how to use it (and loves it a little too much).

A true hard worker with a never-ending appetite for learning, Rebekah is constantly expanding her knowledge and keeping us all on our toes. She’s also got a serious soft spot for black Labradors – if you bring one into the clinic, there’s a 99% chance you’ll see her melt on the spot.

When she’s not geeking out over the latest nursing equipment, you’ll find her living her best pink life. In fact, we’re pretty sure (and she admitted it) she only accepted the job here because we had pink scrubs – a vital, non-negotiable part of her decision-making process.

We’re so lucky to have Rebekah on our team – smart, dedicated, a little bit sassy, and always ready to blast Shake It Off when the day needs a boost.

Guess who we belong to!

Hi, I’m Millie the prettiest black labrador and undisputed queen of snacks, master of bench surfing, and personal space invader extraordinaire. If there’s food, I’m there. If there’s a cozy spot on the couch, I’m already in it (hope you didn’t want to sit there). And if you thought you had control over your cheese, well… think again.

And then there’s Casey, the Jack Russel terrier, tiny tornado with a ball permanently attached to her mouth, zooming around like she’s got places to be (spoiler: she doesn’t). She only stops when she’s in bed, and trust me, waking her up? Not for the faint-hearted.

Now, who do we belong to? She wears pink scrubs (yes, that was a deciding factor in her taking this job 😉), spent 2024 listening to way too much Taylor Swift, according to her Spotify wrapped and transforms into a full-on Christmas Grinch as soon as the festive season rolls around. She’s a blonde, she’s ambitious, and she’s the best dog mum in the entire world (but we might be slightly biased)

Any guesses?

You guessed it! Most of you probably knew that these three cuties belong to our amazing Charlotte!
She's the backbone of Evolution Vets, keeping everything running smoothly from reception to behind-the-scenes admin. We're so lucky to have her on our team and appreciate all her hard work. If you haven't yet, be sure to get acquainted next time you are in.

We’ve seen a couple of parvo cases this week, so we want to remind everyone to keep their dogs protected. Parvo is highly contagious and can be deadly, especially for puppies and unvaccinated dogs. If your dog hasn’t had a vaccination in the last three years, it’s a good idea to get them updated. Avoid high-risk areas like dog parks, pet stores, and other shared spaces until they’re fully protected. If you have any concerns, contact your vet.

Guess who we belong to!

I’m Winnie, the adventurous and always-excited Wirehaired Pointer. I’m all about a good swim in the river, chasing a ball, and keeping an eye on everything happening around me. Then there’s Toby, the wise (and slightly snobbish) feline who prefers the finer things in life—like the best sunspots and uninterrupted naps. And, of course, Simba, the miniature horse with a whole lot of personality and just the right amount of sass.

We all belong to someone pretty special. She’s a born-and-bred Ashburton local, the friendly face you see when you walk through the clinic doors, and the one who makes everyone feel welcome

Three fun facts about her:

1️⃣ She has a fear of sharks
2️⃣ Her favorite restaurant in Ashburton is The Fine Lion—classy choice, right?
3️⃣ When she’s there, you’ll find her with a Miss Lucy in hand—her go-to drink.

So, any guesses who we belong to? 😉

We're a day late, but not a dollar short in wishing Mathilda a happy birthday, as her home country celebrates today. There are some perks to being born elsewhere, especially with a time difference, she gets to celebrate hers twice 🤪We're also stoked to welcome her to the team. With roots in Germany, studies in Poland, and a passion for veterinary care, Mathilda brings a unique perspective. Now settled in Ashburton, we're excited to have her on board. Join us in wishing her a happy birthday and say hi when you see her around the clinic. 🥳🐶

**SUBSIDISED CUSHINGS TESTING AVAILABLE THROUGH AUTUMN**
Have you ever noticed your horse or pony displaying any of these signs? Cushing's Disease, also known as Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID), is a common endocrine disorder in horses, particularly affecting those over the age of 15. It is caused by a dysfunction in the pituitary gland, leading to an overproduction of the hormone ACTH, which subsequently increases cortisol levels in the horse's body. This imbalance can result in a range of symptoms, including weight loss, muscle wasting, a long and curly coat that fails to shed, excessive thirst and urination, laminitis, and lethargy. Diagnosis typically involves blood tests to assess hormone levels, and while there is no cure, the condition can be managed with medication such as pergolide, along with careful management of diet and exercise. Early detection and intervention are key to improving the quality of life for horses with Cushing's Disease. Regular veterinary care and monitoring are crucial in managing this chronic condition effectively. If you have noticed any of these signs feel free to give us a phone to discuss.

Did you know we have our own in house Canine Rehabilitation Therapist?
Nina does physio on dogs and cats which is often an essential part of healing after an injury or surgery. This helps get your pet back to their normal lives as quickly as possible and reduces the chances of a recurrence of the injury. She also works with our geriatric patients offering them pain relief and helping them gain greater mobility. She uses a combination of manual therapies, laser and acupuncture.
If you think your pet will benefit from this give us a call for an appointment.
