Agriculture is the mainstay of more than two third of Nepal’s population; and it is the engine of national economic growth and livelihoods security. HICAST is the first private agricultural college of Nepal, situated in the capital city. It was established in the leadership of Dr Binayak Prasad Rajbhandari in 2000 to respond to the need for specialized human resources in agricultural and veterinar
y sectors. The college has been substantially contributing to the attainment of sustainable livelihoods, agricultural and rural development by producing both theoretically and practically well educated graduates. HICAST's faculty members are highly qualified with national and international experience. The college uses interactive and practical learning approaches to give students a balanced education that will benefit them throughout their careers. Since its launch, the college has produced more than 1000 graduates, and many have pursued further education at the master’s and PhD levels. HICASTIAN Graduates ard successfully working in government and private sectors as well as in various I/NGOs both in Nepal and abroad.
