☔ RAINY SEASON PET SAFETY: 10 MUST-KNOW TIPS! ☔
Keep your furry friends healthy & happy during the monsoons!
🌧️ 1. Dry Them THOROUGHLY*
Wet fur = breeding ground for infections!
✅ Do: Towel-dry IMMEDIATELY after walks, especially paws, belly & ears. Use a pet hairdryer (low heat) for fluffy breeds.
❌ Don’t: Let them air-dry or sleep damp → risks hot spots & fungal infections.
🐾 2. Paw Patrol
Paws soak up toxins from rain puddles (oil, chemicals, parasites).
✅ Do: Rinse paws with lukewarm water after walks. Apply pet-safe balm to prevent cracking.
❌ Avoid: Letting them lick dirty paws → diarrhea or poisoning.
🦠 3. Lepto Alert!
STAGNANT WATER = DEADLY. Leptospirosis (bacterial disease) spreads via contaminated water.
✅ Do: Keep vaccines UPDATED. Prevent puddle-drinking.
⚠️ Symptom watch: Fever, vomiting, yellow gums → EMERGENCY VET!
🚫 4. No Rainwater Meals
Replace outdoor water bowls frequently. Rainwater collects mosquitoes (heartworm risk) & debris.
✅ Tip: Use covered bowls or bring indoors.
👂 5. Ear Infections Peak
Moisture + warmth = perfect ear infection storm (especially floppy-eared dogs).
✅ Do: Dry ears gently with cotton ball after rain. Weekly vet-recommended ear cleanser.
❌ Never: Use cotton swabs inside ears!

✅ Raincoats: Keep small/short-haired pups warm & dry.
✅ Reflective vests: Low visibility = high accident risk!
✅ Booties: Protect paws from mud, debris & chemicals.
🏠 7. Indoor Enrichment
Bored pets = destructive pets! Beat "walk cancellation" blues:
✅ Ideas: Puzzle toys, hide-and-seek, lick mats, indoor fetch (hallway!), new chew toys.
🐌 8. Pest Control ON POINT
Humidity = flea/ticks/mosquitoes paradise!
✅ Do: Renew preventatives (topical/oral). Check fur after walks.
❌ Don’t: Skip meds because "it’s rainy" – pests thrive indoors too!
😰 *9. Thunderstorm Anxiety
25% of dogs fear thunderstorms:
✅ Calm them: Create a "safe den" (covered crate with blankets), play white noise, try anxiety wraps (Thundershirt).
❌ Avoid: Coddling fear – reward calm behavior instead.
📱 10. Emergency Ready
Power outages? Flooding? Be prepared:
✅ Kit: 3-day food/water, meds, vet records, leash/carrier, flashlight.
✅ Microchip: Ensure info is updated! Collar tags can rust/fade.
