Most Tibetan mastiffs are descended from the dogs in Nepal (Bhote kukur), which makes those the best comparison and inspiration material for the breed itself. However, it's also very interesting to study the differences between the landraces itself as well. They share similar traits and purposes, but as they have evolved to different living circumstances and local's cultures and preferences, they also developed their own traits that divide them from the others again.

They all have their own qualities and culture, which makes them unique as their own kind.
