Loose leash walking is easier to achieve than you may think. The trick is to get your dog to understand where the value is. Building positive learning cycles. What ever your dog’s super power is we use this to build these learning loops. Baloo loves to sniff so I let him. I release him and give him freedom.

Happy and content dog, but there is so much more going on. Baloo is resting his head on Kai’s arm and relaxing. This is a skill we practice for a number of reasons.

Brushing, cleaning paws, checking teeth and ears. Teaching them that do nothing is doing something. Showing them they can choose the behaviour and they will get attention.

The truth is it is easy to achieve if we understand the sequence of events and reinforce at the correct time. When we have this kind of behaviour they can also become a bridge to build two way communication.

Start rewarding behaviour you want to see not just working on tricks and you will see a transformation in your dog and as a happy coincidence you will start to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it.

Seasons greetings from me and the seal ( Baloo) Dog training takes time and patience that is my key message for 2026. Each dog is different and when we find their super power and use it rather than fight it magic starts to happen.

I stand by the principle it is the things we pay attention too that will prevail. The action that we reinforce will be repeated. Our journey with Baloo was not simple and I have learned so much along the way. He will be seven in Feb and for the first three years I was lost. Now I could not wish for a better pooch.

Here is to 2026 and I hope to have the chance to help more people and their fury friends. Godt Nyt År

Lokal hundetrener på Nesodden med et åpent og fleksibelt treningsprogram. For yngre hunder fokuserer vi på å utvikle eierens ferdigheter over tid innen områder som grensetrening, kontakt med hunden, «magic mat», trygghet (mellomposisjon), gå pent i bånd, lek, frigjøringssignal, innkalling og riktig fysisk kontakt for å styrke engasjementet. Ved å lære å lese hundens kroppsspråk får du de daglige ferdighetene du trenger for å gi hunden riktige utløp for energi og behov – og de beste forutsetningene for å få en harmonisk og lykkelig hund.

VIL DU HA EN LYDIG HUND?
Da er dette IKKE kurset for deg!

Noen meldte seg på vårt gratis kurs fordi hun ønsket å lære hunden sin kommandoer og gjøre henne mer «lydig». Enten blir hun skuffet – eller så endrer hun perspektiv.

Hunden er Sjefen handler ikke om lydighet.

Spør deg selv: Vil du egentlig ha en lydig hund?
Hva betyr det egentlig?

Eller ønsker du kanskje en hund som forstår deg – og som du forstår tilbake?
En hund som føler seg trygg nok til å ta valg, selvsikker nok til å si «nei», og nysgjerrig nok til å si «ja»?

Lydighet kan se bra ut på utsiden, men tilknytning føles bedre på innsiden.

For et forhold bygget på tillit trenger ikke kontroll for å henge sammen.

De to første årene av hundens liv krever regelmessig trening. Etter hvert som hunden din vokser vil atferden endre seg, og det samme bør treningsplanen din. Å hjelpe hunden din med å navigere i denne utfordrende tiden er enklere med kontinuerlig støtte. Hos Norse Paw tilbyr vi nettopp at vi vår treningsstruktur ikke er basert på et 6 ukers kurs, men kontinuerlig trening som gjør oss i stand til å bygge opp ferdighetene på overtid.

Hver hund er forskjellig og individuelle treningsplaner er ofte nødvendig, men dette trenger ikke å være komplisert. Ta kontakt for mer informasjon.

9 skills you can master to change your dogs life!

Here are 9 basic skills that I believe are non negotiable when it comes to training your dog. There is no priority to this list and there are many other options but we need to help the learner remember something concrete. I believe my job as a dog instructor is to provide information in a manner that is easy to remember, easy to understand and that is actionable. I am not present for 167 hrs of the dogs week ( 7x24 =168 ) but I do have the chance to make an impact in that 1hr a week.

Each of these skills are used in the weekly meet ups on the course that will build in difficulty and complexity over time. The course is organised to minimise failure of all learners and maximise progress. The dog is exposed in the correct way to new situations while building a strong bound with their caretaker and the caretaker is learning to be more observant about their dogs behaviour.

More details to follow on each of these subjects where I will make available simple training videos and discuss them in detail.
