As of today, I decided to stop posting on this account. I tried very hard to keep both accounts active and make interesting content. It is very important for me to show my life, vision and the way I work with the horses on social media. People trust me with their horses and that is a difficult decision to make. Being open about what I do and why, matters. I care a lot about my clients, both horse and human and I also care about the horses and riders that are not my clients but just enjoy our beautiful sport and way of life. I believe sharing knowledge and my experiences can help some of them to enjoy each others company more and to help horses get happier and healthier.

I will continue to share information, my way of working, my life with the horses and whatever else I can think of 😜

But from now on I will only use the account .horses.trainingandrecovery (which I renamed because I want it to show what I do). So please if you don't already, follow that one to keep up!

Thanks you 🙏

𝔻𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕕𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞 𝕠𝕗 𝕨𝕚𝕟𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘, 𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕚𝕟 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕚𝕥!

And finally...

🦄 Training 🦄

I really love to ride and develop horses. See them grow, get stronger and more confident...the day to day, the basic work, making sure they are happy, relaxed, understand their job. And once they get a little older the work just keeps getting more interesting and more precise. New excercises, more collection, smaller aids. Working as a team and getting to know each other better and better.

At the moment my own biggest challenge in riding is to get better at the higher competition levels and gain more experience. So I decided to start working on this and some exciting things are happening already...can't tell just yet but I am very happy about what's coming! And of course this pretty girl is really showing that she is starting to figure it all out...so I really hope this year we get to learn a lot together and we can go out competing to show you!

Of course it is also still possible to take horses in for training at all levels, I still enjoy working with the young ones very much and getting them relaxed, confident and trusting your aids is a big part of my job. It is never about the excercises, it is always about understanding their own body and learning how to work it.

🦄 Coaching 🦄

Have you ever been frustrated after training? Ever felt like you are never going to learn, your horse just won't work with you or everyone else seems to have it figured out and you are still not getting results?

Because I have.

And it is not fun...it is easy to be motivated when things are going well. The hard part is to keep going when things are not going so well.

For me, teaching or coaching is not about teaching your horse excercises or getting the horse to do what you want. It is about creating a partnership between you and your horse that will last. It is about teaching you to look beyond the obvious and start to offer help instead of corrections.

I am lucky to work with a group of great riders that all have one thing in common! They love their horses and are willing to work to get better! So, so rewarding to watch them all grow and become better coaches for their horses ❤️

𝔽𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕤 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕤𝕒𝕪𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕟𝕠

In 2024, I decided I want my business to focus on:

* Recovery
* Coaching
* Riding

In this post, let's talk about recovery!

🦄 Recovery 🦄

I have invested a lot in both knowledge and equipment so I can offer very good care and service. One of the major strenghts (or at least I think so!) is that I am a small business and I truly care about you and your horse. I understand how terrifying it is when your horse is hurt and how close you like to keep him. I also understand that sometimes what you want, is not the best choice for your horse. Most horse owners have a job, a family and other obligations. A lot of horse are at a boarding stable. All works very well, until your horse needs special care, special management etc...and that is exactly what I specialize in!

I can manage each horse individually to their specific needs. I can support them with the newest technology to keep them as fit as possible. Our stable is quiet, friendly, light and gives the horses and instant feeling of being home. It is literally my job to make sure your horse is happy, and recovers as well as possible.

So yes, even though it means moving your horse for a period of time and it is more expensive than a regular boarding stable, the benefits are plenty! A shorter recovery also means less vet bills, less time spent worrying and more peace of mind...

Feel free to message if you feel I can help you and your horse, or react on this post with any questions!

ℕ𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕕𝕚𝕞 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕤 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟

At the moment I enjoy working with the training horses and coaching. It is a little bit quiter then normal, some horses went back home and because of the weather there are not so much lessons. I have to say I needed a little bit of a break, last year was incredibly busy and I loved that, but it gave me very little time to work on other things and make new plans...

Now things have calmed down a little and that means time to think about what's new and what do I want for this year...

I already talked about this a little, I hope to develop my own riding and I get to compete more. But, that is mostly a personal goal.

For my business, this year is all about showing what we can do and how I can help you. I really believe that there is so much more possible when it comes to recovering from an injury. And the way your horse recovers has an impact on the rest of his life and career.

Having an injured horse causes the owner a lot of stress and extra work and care. And even when you love your horse very much, most people have a job and a family and it is super hard to take care of an injured horse, get to the stable several times a day, give special care etc...So, let me help...let me help your horse recover and let me help you have some peace of mind. I truly get how it feels, I get the worries and the doubts. And I will do everything I possibly can to give your horse both the best care and lots of love and attention. Because I believe both are important and both help a good and fast recovery. A happy horse is a healthier horse.

𝔹𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕠𝕨𝕟 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕖𝕥𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟

I love going to shows/competitions with my horses! First of all it is just really nice to be able to spent a lot of time with your horse, be focused together and I always try to make it a fun day out for them.

But I also want to know how everything we trained for works out in the test. To have a good competition, the horse not only needs to know the excercises but they also need confidence and trust. And no matter how much you train, they still need to get that show experience. I love when they start to get what is going on and really seem to do their best at the right moment. It takes a special kind of partnership and I love it when it feels like we are going for it together!

Of course it is not always easy and the results are not always what you hope for. Sometimes when I just can't quite seem to get everything right, it is difficult to just keep trying, keep training and go out there again. I have learned that this is just a phase, things will get better as long as I keep putting in the work...So that is what we do, train, do the work, get better, work on myself mostly and keep going forward!

𝕊𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕞𝕠𝕤𝕥 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕕𝕦𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕕𝕠 𝕚𝕤 𝕣𝕖𝕝𝕒𝕩

I work with horses, which means I also work with their riders and owners. When I train a horse that is meant to go back to their previous rider, I always try to work on the connection between them before they go back home and have to do it by themselves.

Everyone that brings their horse to me, loves them and wants what's best for them. I truly believe that no one wants to be unfriendly or angry with their horse.

But just like every horse has a story, every rider has one too!! A lot of riders have learned bad habits. Myself included by the way. Sometimes they are off balance in their position and seat and therefor unclear to their horse. Sometimes they are not aware of the way their aids are being received. Sometimes they were taught to 'just be more firm, be tougher' and 'you need to be the boss'.

For me, changing this mindset is a wonderful challenge that always leads to a completely different dynamic between horse and rider. A question I often start with, and I now challenge you to ask yourself is this:

When your horse is not doing what you wanted or expected, instead of asking

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺/𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?

Ask yourself this..

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?

And just like that, you start to actually listen to your horse...you start to really see your horse.

𝕀𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕟 𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕗-𝕔𝕠𝕟𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕝, 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕒𝕟𝕪𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘

Once we find a connection and communication, I start to teach self-control. Believe it or not, a lot of horses that are called 'spooky' are very unbalanced. And when you teach them balance, they become less spooky...

Horses are big and strong, but a lot of them are not very aware of their body. They don't really know how to regain balance (except for adding more speed or bucking). They don't really know how to relax and breathe out...

We must always remember that our horses are prey animals by nature. Even though they are not in any danger in our world, it still defines the way they look at things. The zero to hundred reaction, the super quick build up of adrenaline and the run now ask questions later attitude...

So, if we expect a different response, we need to actually take the time to show them there is a better way. There is another way, and let them experience how nice it feels to relax and stay calm. Show them how we are there to help, instead of putting more pressure on the situation.

So I work on making them feel their body. Feel those legs moving forward, backward and sideways. Feel that hind leg crossing under the body because that is an example of a way to regain balance. Find some bend in their body and some relaxation. So, yoga 😜

ℂ𝕠𝕞𝕞𝕦𝕟𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕝𝕚𝕗𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕖 𝕠𝕗 𝕒𝕟𝕪 𝕣𝕖𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕡

Today I want to share a little bit about training because that is also an important part of my work. Training always starts with making a connection, getting to know eachother. It is important that our horses feel free to be who they are and feel safe enough to show us how they feel and when they need help.

If a horse has learned to not show these feelings, that can cause some dangerous situations. A horse that doesn't tell us when he is a little scared, worried or insecure, will keep going until he has such big feelings he can't ignore them anymore....The reaction you get then will be much, much bigger! We all know these horses that will 'explode out of nowhere'...but this is almost never the true story! They either did show signs and we missed them, or they have learned that showing signs is not appreciated by us humans and they stopped asking for help.

So the first step is always finding a connection, building trust and I try my best to listen to every small sign they give me. I want to stay as far away from the panic zone as possible, because that is not a mindset that will teach them anything good.

This year is almost over and it went by so fast I almost can't believe it's December already!

A lot of things changed this year and change always comes with ups and downs...By now I can truly say we are so happy and settled at our new location and I am really glad we made this choice.

Because of that, I had some rest and time to think about my goals for next year and I still have so many plans and ideas! Can't wait to start working on it...but the next few weeks it's time for a little recharge, family time and of course the end of year administrative duties 🙈
