A few of my circles have been talking about sensory integration a lot lately. So i wanted to share how it looks in humans, namely me 💁🏽♀️
I am adding sensory activities in my free time to rewire my nervous system after fleeing the fascist regime taking over the US.
Other benefits of integrating sensory activities to your life:
- improve dexterity & proprioception
- improve cognitive function & build neural connections
- improve mood and allow access to mindful meditation
I don't have an artistic bone in my body but I can match numbers to colors and fill in empty space with said colors and its fun and peaceful.
Puzzles help me sit still, busy my eyes, and quiet brain.. I loooove visual stimulation - think watching fire and fireworks, moving water, and leaves blowing in the wind. You can imagine how easy it is to get stuck in the variety of visual sensory input i get from my box between tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
Learning to reconnect my body and mind in ways that help ground me in my present environment has had a huge and positive impact on my life, my relationships, and my career.
New country, new life, new lessons learned, and new me.
