Pay attention to who leads the pack, who follows along, and who is prepared to stand alone.
Watch how people treat those who have nothing to offer them, how they speak about others when they're not around, and whether their kindness disappears when there's an audience to impress. It tells you a great deal about someone's character.
You don't have to join the gossip, take sides, or play the social games to belong.
You can choose to surround yourself with people who encourage you, respect you and genuinely want to see you and your horses do well.
