Another clutch has hatched! 🥚🦎❤️

And once again, there’s a little MSSBN in there that immediately caught our attention. 😍

She’s showing some absolutely beautiful darkness straight out of the egg. Of course we’ve learned plenty of times that hatchling coloration can change dramatically as they grow, so we’re definitely not making any predictions just yet…

But this is a VERY nice starting point. 👀🖤

Watching these babies hatch and seeing our project develop generation after generation is still one of the best parts of breeding leopard geckos.

Now the fun part begins: watching her develop! ❤️

Shedding is completely natural, but there are a few things we can do to make the process as easy as possible. ❤️

A properly moist humid hide is one of the most important things you can provide. Most leopard geckos will then remove their old skin completely by themselves.

After a shed, always check areas where skin can sometimes remain stuck — especially the toes, tip of the tail and around the eyes. 👀

And here’s something new keepers might not know: leopard geckos usually eat their shed! That’s also why you might own a leopard gecko for years without actually seeing many complete sheds.

Give them a proper humid hide, some natural textures to rub against, and let your gecko do the rest. 🦎❤️

Two babies. Same clutch. Two VERY different reactions to being moved from their incubation cup. 😂

Baby #1: “PUT ME BACK IMMEDIATELY!!!” 😤📢
Baby #2: “Oh… okay. 🙂”

We swear there’s always one feisty little dinosaur and one absolute sweetheart. 😂🦎❤️

And yes — that tiny scream is really coming from the baby!

Open enclosure. Hand offered. Their choice. ❤️

We’ve received quite a few comments lately saying things like “they belong in the wild,” “humans are their worst enemies” and “they’ll always see humans as a threat.”

These two moments are a beautiful reminder that the reality of responsible reptile keeping is a little more nuanced than that.

Our leopard geckos are captive bred. They were born under human care and simply releasing captive-bred animals into the wild would neither be responsible nor appropriate.

Under responsible human care, they receive appropriate food, shelter, temperatures and veterinary care when necessary, while being protected from predators and many other hazards of life in the wild.

And no, we’re not claiming they think or love like humans do.

But they can become accustomed to our presence and learn that our hands aren’t a threat.

That’s what makes moments like these so rewarding: the enclosure is open, we offer a hand…

and they voluntarily climb onto it. ❤️🦎

That’s a feeling every reptile keeper can relate to.

A tiny bit of leopard gecko behaviour caught on camera. 😍💧

Right after spraying her humid hide, this beautiful little Pied MSSBN immediately started licking the fresh water droplets from the wall.

Leopard geckos will readily drink droplets from moist surfaces — although that certainly doesn’t mean they won’t use a water bowl. We’ve caught several of ours drinking directly from theirs too! 🦎

Sometimes the simplest behaviour is the most fascinating to watch. ❤️

This is why we start getting our hatchlings used to us from their very first days. ❤️

Some babies are naturally much more defensive — as you can clearly see in the beginning. 😂 But having a hand enter their enclosure shouldn’t remain a terrifying experience every time they’re fed, cleaned or checked.

So we start early: short, calm interactions without forcing anything, allowing them to investigate and approach at their own pace.

And this little one went from launching at my hand to calmly climbing onto it. 🥹🦎

Building that confidence starts in the first days here at Delta Morphs. ❤️
