Your bunny won’t touch their hay, and you’re blaming the bunny. It’s usually the rack.

Rabbits want to eat hay at nose level, clean, and right next to their toilet spot, that’s how they graze in the wild. Hay dumped on the floor gets soiled and ignored. Change how it’s offered and most “picky” bunnies start eating again.

Lunging, boxing, grunting, tail flicks: these aren’t a “bad” rabbit, they’re a rabbit setting a boundary. Anger in rabbits is almost always fear or frustration about space, handling, or territory, and it eases when those are addressed.

That little “cottontail” flashes white as a warning signal in the wild, and the way they hold it tells you a lot about their mood: relaxed, alert, or about to bolt. Most owners never notice.

Your bunny pees outside the litter box and you’ve tried everything, but it’s probably not stubbornness.

Rabbits toilet where they feel the layout makes sense. When the box, the hay, and their “safe corner” aren’t aligned, they improvise. It’s almost always a setup problem, not a behaviour one: clear toilet structure plus hay placed right beside it changes everything.

Everybody tells you hay matters — but nobody explains what good hay actually looks like.

Good hay is green, not yellow; smells fresh, not musty; and has long, varied strands, not dust. If your bunny keeps refusing hay, the problem is usually the quality or how it’s offered — not stubbornness.

Ever wondered why your bunny thumps? It’s one of the most misunderstood rabbit behaviours.

A thump is communication, usually “I sense danger” or “I’m not happy about this.” It’s instinct from the wild, where one thump warns the whole warren. It’s rarely random, even when you can’t see the trigger.

Your bunny is actually older (or younger) than you think, and it’s not as simple as “x7”.

A 1-year-old rabbit is roughly a young adult; by 5–6 they’re middle-aged; 8+ is senior territory. Their needs shift at each stage, from diet to how much rest they want.
