I’ve had to learn the hard way that a "dog-friendly" sign doesn't always mean it’s a good fit for us. 🐾

Pepper gets easily wound up and excited around other dogs and people. In many "dog-friendly" spots, the tables are too close, the energy is too high, and there’s just no room for her to settle.

We’ve realized she doesn't need "excitement"—she needs space. She needs a calm environment where she can actually settle down and relax by our side.

Now, if a place just "tolerates" dogs but doesn’t actually have the space or vibe to be comfortable, we skip it. We’ve stopped looking for places where she’s just allowed, and started looking for the spots that actually suit her needs.

That’s exactly why we are building WagFriendly. To help you find those "dog-calm" gems where your dog can feel as relaxed as they do at home.

Does your dog need a "dog-calm" spot too? Find your next favorite location at the link in my bio.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted, so we figured it was time for a quick re-introduction.

We’re Christine and David, and this is Pepper. We started WagFriendly because we were fed up with the "is-it-actually-dog-friendly" guessing game every time we wanted to go somewhere.

We basically built the tool we wanted to use ourselves—somewhere to find spots that actually welcome dogs, not just tolerate them.

We’re getting back into the swing of things and want to fill the map with more recommendations. If you have a favorite dog-friendly spot, let us know in the comments so we can check it out.

How cold is TOO cold for your dog?

Not all dogs are built for the snow! We have made a safety checklist to save for the winter!

THE SAFETY SCALE (Celsius) 🟡 5°C to 9°C (Caution): Generally safe, but you can break out the sweaters for small breeds or seniors. 🟠 0°C to 4°C (Risk): Monitor closely. If they shiver or lift paws, head inside. 🔴 -1°C to -6°C (Danger): Shorten walks to 15 mins unless well prepared. Dangerous for small breeds. 🚫 Below -10°C (Emergency): High risk. Potty breaks only!

THE "HIDDEN" FACTORS Temperature is only half the story. Always check for: ☁️ Cloud Cover: the sun can make a big difference 💧 Dampness: Wet fur loses its insulation—even at 7°C! 💨 Wind Chill: use the real feel on weather apps 🧊 Frozen Water: Stay off the ice! Major drowning risk. 🐕 Activity Level: Zoomies keep them warmer than slow leash walks ofc.
