For yearsā¦ it was normal. š¾š
Something people didnāt talk about much.
Something that justā¦ existed.
Rooted in history.
Passed down without question.
But slowlyāalmost quietlyāthings began to shift.
In South Korea, a place once closely associated with the dog meat trade, a powerful change is unfolding.
In 2024, the government passed a historic lawābacked by overwhelming supportābanning the breeding, slaughter, and sale of dogs for consumption.
By February 2027, it will be fully enforced.
But hereās what makes this story differentā¦
The change didnāt wait for the deadline.
By the end of 2025, about 1,204 out of 1,537 registered farms had already shut down.
Thatās nearly 80%.
Not forced.
Not dragged out.
Many chose to walk away early.
With support to transition into new livelihoods, farmers began leaving behind an industry that once felt untouchable.
And beneath it allā¦ something even bigger is happening.
A shift in mindset.
A new generation is seeing things differently.
Dogs are no longer part of a system.
They are companions.
They are family.
They are love.
For years, consumption had already been fadingāquietly, steadilyāuntil this moment became inevitable.
Thereās still more to be done.
Thousands of dogs are still waitingā
for rescue,
for care,
for a safe place to belong.
That part of the story isnāt over yet.
But something important has changed.
The direction.
Because real change doesnāt always arrive loudlyā¦
