One infected pig can put an entire herd at risk. Don't wait until it's too late

African Swine Fever (ASF) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic and wild pigs, causing severe illness and high death rates.

Although people cannot catch ASF, they can unknowingly spread the virus through contaminated clothing, footwear, vehicles, equipment, or by moving infected pigs and pork products.

Watch for signs such as high fever, loss of appetite, weakness, red or bluish skin, and sudden deaths.

🚨 RABIES OUTBREAK ALERT | FCT, ABUJA

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has confirmed a rabies outbreak following the deaths of two people from rabid dog bites. This is a timely reminder that rabies is 100% preventable through vaccination but almost always fatal once symptoms appear.

If you are bitten by a dog or cat:

✅ Wash the wound immediately with soap and plenty of running water.
✅ Seek medical attention without delay.
✅ Report the incident to the nearest health or veterinary facility.

Pet owners are strongly encouraged to vaccinate their dogs and cats, prevent them from roaming freely, and watch for unusual behaviour such as aggression, excessive salivation, difficulty swallowing, or paralysis.

Prevention begins with awareness. By acting early, we can protect our families, our animals, and our communities.
