Did you know that Goldfinches are actually better at learning songs from MP3 players compared to the birds we train here in Nigeria, like Yellow-fronted Canaries and White-rumped Seedeaters? Goldfinches have a natural ability to pick up more tunes and can mimic a wider range of sounds. They also learn faster and with more variety than the birds we're used to. So if you ever tried training a Goldfinch, you'd be amazed at how many songs it could learn!

Sadly they're not in Nigeria 😔

The Goldfinch is a small, colorful bird known for its bright red face, black-and-white head, and vibrant yellow wing patches. It has a melodic, cheerful song and often flies in a distinctive, undulating pattern. Goldfinches are seed-eaters, particularly fond of thistle and dandelion seeds, and can be spotted in gardens, woodlands, and open countryside. Hello! a new study has proven that Yellow-fronted canaries learn new tunes from MP3 players faster than White-rumped Seedeaters. The research shows that yellow-fronted canaries are more responsive to repeated sounds and can quickly mimic tunes with shorter training sessions. In comparison, White-rumped Seedeaters need more time and variety in training to pick up on the same sounds. So, if you want to train a bird to learn new draws, yellow-fronted canaries would be the better choice for faster results!

Training a Yellow-fronted Canary vs. a White-rumped Seedeater with MP3 Player:
