7 CHEMICALS THAT HELP KEEP SNAKES AWAY FROM POULTRY FARMS

Snakes are a serious danger in poultry farms. They attack chicks, stress adult birds, and put farm safety at risk. Farmers often rely on strong-smelling chemicals and natural repellents to discourage snakes from coming close.

Here are 7 effective repellents commonly used:

1. SULFUR (POWDERED)
- Snakes hate the smell. Sprinkle it around fences and farm boundaries.

2. NAPHTHALENE (MOTHBALLS)
- Place inside perforated containers, away from birds, feed, and water.

3. JEYES FLUID / PHENOL
- Strong disinfectant used around poultry houses. Repels snakes and also kills germs.

4. KEROSENE OR DIESEL
- Lightly applied around bushy corners outside pens. Snakes avoid the strong fuel odor.

5. BLEACH SOLUTION
- Works well, and dark hiding spots.

6. GARLIC + ONION SPRAY
- Natural mix sprayed around cracks and entrances. Snakes dislike the pungent smell.

7. LIME POWDER (CITRUS/LIMESTONE)
- Spread along compound edges. Its irritating effect keeps snakes away.

⚠️ Important Reminder:
No chemical works if your farm attracts snakes. Bushy surroundings, open feed bags, and rats invite them. Keep the farm clean, control rodents, and seal holes to reduce snake visits.
