DOG'S HAIR GROOMING

Today we had the opportunity of grooming one of our client's dog, the dog was so aggressive that we have to anaesthetised it; the job came out well, please always brush/comb you dog's hair to avoid it matting and been tangled.

Meet Max, a beautiful lhasa at Finima; he's one year plus male dog.
He was playing before I went to attend to him but on seeing me, he became nervous and shaky, the dog was feeling like a kid who just saw that doctor/nurse; the sight was funny even the owner said so.

PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE!!!

Greetings, Everyone.
Please, this is to inform us that there is an outbreak of rabies in Rivers State - one case of rabies is already an outbreak as the dog goes about biting every thing and every body, thus spreading the virus.

Two weeks ago, a veterinarian was bitten while attending to a 4-months old dog. Decapitated dog sample sent to NVRI tested positive for the virus.

And now we have a patient at the UPTH showing symptoms of hydrophobia and other neuropathies. Let's be cautious as the disease could be the dumb form and unsuspecting persons could be vulnerable.

This is for our information and necessary action, please.

FARMING NO EASY OH!

It's true that herders and crop farmer usually have issues as 0er encroachment of farm land and destruction of crops which is very wrong and painful; none of them currently have it easy, I pray for a better, functional and lasting solution to this problems.
My little time with these men makes me understand that they're going through alot, alot of resources are been utilised in order to provide for our food security; a level playing field should be provided for all stakeholders, education on better farming practices...

FREE FMD AND CBPP VACCINATION

As they say, Muhammad will go to the mountain if the mountain can't go to Muhammad; I was opportune to vaccinate these cattle today, the owners are very friendly and the handlers are very strong.

I thank the director of veterinary services (DVS), Dr. Godswill Okoikpoko, for allowing us to carry out these exercises in Bonny.

FREE CBPP AND FMD VACCINATION

As part of activities to strengthen animal health services in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development through the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has procured vaccines for the control of trans-boundary animal diseases (TADs) to improve livestock productivity and ensure food security. To this effect, the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture has received 10,000 doses of Contagious Bovine Pleuropnemonia Vaccines (CBPPV), 60,000 doses of Newcastle Disease Vaccines (NCDV) and 1,000 doses of Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccines (FMDV).
