🚨Collar Injury Awareness; This Could Have Been Avoided.
This dog was brought to our clinic with a severe neck wound caused by an overly tight collar that had been left unchecked for too long.
The collar slowly cut into the skin, creating the deep, painful injury you see in the first image.
Tight collars don’t just cause discomfort, they can lead to infections, tissue damage, and life threatening complications if not noticed early.
The good news is with proper wound care, cleaning, suturing, and close monitoring, we were able to treat the injury successfully. The healing progress shows what timely veterinary intervention can achieve.
Please check your pets’ collars regularly.
• Make sure you can fit two fingers comfortably under the collar.
• Adjust as the dog grows, especially puppies!
• Replace worn-out collars.
• If you notice hair loss, foul smell, or your dog scratching the neck constantly, inspect immediately.
Let’s keep our pets safe, comfortable, and pain-free.
