Training style
Lhasa Apsos respond best to consistent, patient, and positive reinforcement training methods. Harsh corrections are not recommended.
Basic commands: Sit, Down And Stand.
Training age
Start training Lhasa Apsos early to establish good behavior and obedience.
Training sessions
Keep training sessions short, fun, and engaging. Lhasa Apsos prefer varied training sessions over repetitive ones.
Socialization
Socialize Lhasa Apsos early to different people, animals, and environments. This can help them become more confident and well-rounded dogs.
Commands
Be consistent with your commands. Lhasa Apsos may refuse commands if they don’t feel like it’s in their best interest or if they don’t feel like they’re getting enough attention.
Lhasa Apsos are known for being excellent watchdogs with a loud alarm bark. They can do well with children, but they should be supervised and exposed to them early on.
Lhasas are not high energy dogs and are quite content to entertain themselves, but their independence can make training a challenge. Strong-willed and independent, Lhasa Apsos need a strong and consistent hand when it comes to training.
