❤️ A Tale of Two Heroes: Duggie & Buddy ❤️
On the 6th of October 2025, a little fighter named Duggie was brought to us in a critical state. He was completely collapsed, severely anaemic, and his tiny body was tinted yellow from jaundice. Tests confirmed that he was battling Tick Bite Fever — a cruel illness that had taken a heavy toll on his body.
We immediately started treatment, but it was clear Duggie would need more than just medication to survive — he needed a blood transfusion. That’s when our unlikely hero stepped forward.
Meet Buddy — a big-hearted farm dog with a mischievous streak. Buddy had come to live with us at the clinic after his adventures on the farm became a little too... energetic (he had a habit of chasing cattle and running off whenever he pleased!). At the clinic, he took on the role of “guard dog,” though he mostly just guarded his food bowls.
But when Duggie needed help, Buddy was ready. Without hesitation, he became Duggie’s lifesaver — donating blood that gave this fragile pup a second chance.
We were blessed when Have a Heart Namibia - Spay and Neuter Project stepped in and generously covered Duggie’s veterinary bill, ensuring this brave little soul got the care he needed.
Every single day, Duggie’s owner came to visit, sitting by his side and cheering him on as he regained his strength. When he heard about Buddy — the dog whose blood had saved Duggie’s life — he asked to meet him.
And from that moment... it was love at first sight.
Something clicked instantly between them — as if fate had quietly been at work the whole time.
On the 11th of October, Duggie was discharged, full of energy and back to his cheeky puppy ways — barking at everything that dared to move in the clinic. His owner, now completely smitten with Buddy, asked if he could give this big-hearted boy a forever home.
After a successful home check, Buddy officially joined Duggie’s family.
Today, they came back for a visit — tails wagging, eyes sparkling, hearts full. Duggie and Buddy, once strangers connected by a single act of kindness, now share a home, a family, and a lifetime of love.
Two dogs. One lifesaving bond. Endless happiness. 🐾❤️
