Job Summary:
A Pet Store Retail Assistant is responsible for assisting customers in the purchase of pet products and services, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This role requires a deep knowledge and understanding of various pet products, including food, toys, and accessories, and the ability to provide advice and guidance to customers based on their specific needs.
- Greeting customers as they enter the store and providing assistance as needed
- Helping customers locate products and answering their questions about pet care and nutrition
- Educating customers on the benefits and features of various pet products
- Operating cash registers and processing transactions accurately
- Restocking shelves and organizing displays to ensure a clean and tidy store environment
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Assisting with the receiving and unpacking of new merchandise
- Providing support to the store management team as needed
Prior experience in retail or customer service
Knowledge of specific pet breeds and their unique care requirements
This role requires working in a retail store environment and may involve exposure to animal dander, odors, and cleaning chemicals. The Pet Store Retail Assistant may also be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as well as during peak sales periods. The role may involve standing for long periods, lifting and carrying heavy items, and performing other physical tasks as needed.
