Cats need carbohydrates too. If you choose to homecooked your cat’s meal, make sure it’s complete balance meal for them.
Cats can, and should, eat carbohydrates!
I often see carbohydrates in cat foods being demonised but all the evidence we have (which is a lot!), shows that they are something to be favoured, not feared, as part of a balanced diet for our feline friends.
This article from Dr Dottie Laflamme DVM PhD DACVN, a Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist with over 30 years experience, is a brilliant, comprehensive review of all the science and knowledge we have about carbs and cats and conclusively shows there is plenty of evidence of the benefits, and no evidence of harm;

I also highly recommend you listen to her chatting about this subject to Dr. Andy Roark on his Cone of Shame podcast.

** When you hear people who REALLY know what they are talking about on the subject of animal nutrition, you can totally appreciate the difference between them and those who claim to be knowledgable (and often peddle myths like cats can't have carbs!) but who have nowhere near the same depth of education or understanding!
Dr Dottie is a seriously impressive woman! **
