Coco was supposed to go home once. She was chosen… she was ready… but life had other plans.

While her two sisters found their forever families, Coco stayed behind — watching, waiting, wondering when it would be her turn. Time passed, people came and went, and somehow… she kept getting overlooked.

But here’s the thing about Coco — she never stopped trying.

Every training session, she shows up with quiet determination. She’s learning to walk on leash, to sit, to come when called… and she picks it up so quickly, as if she knows this might be her chance to finally belong.

She may be a little shy at first, but give her a moment… and you’ll see it — that gentle, loving soul just waiting to trust, to connect, to be yours.

At just 8–9 months old and only around 10kg, Coco is past the demanding puppy phase but still young enough to grow with you. She’s fully vaccinated, neutered, and ready — truly ready — for a place to call home.

She’s watched others leave.
She’s been passed by more than once.

Please don’t let her story be one of “almost.”

✨ Be the one who finally chooses Coco — and means it.
✨ Give her the ending she’s been waiting for.

WhatsApp us to meet Coco. Your decision could change her entire world.

This sweet senior pug has been through so much. On the 8 Dec 2025 – he was surrendered to PAWS by a man who found him in Puchong. Paws were unable to take him. So happened I was in PAWS bailing out my strays, I convinced the guy not to surrender the pug there as there are just too many dogs in PAWS. The guy said since Paws could not take the pug, he will take it back to where he found the pug, i.e. back to the streets. I asked if he could take care of the dog and he said that he cannot as he has to work, no one can take care and no time and no money.

I took the pug from the guy and immediately took him to my vet who checked his condition and did test – blood test, distemper, tick fever test. All tests came out good. No signs of any serious sickness – vet gave his nails a trim, gave him a NexGard and some antibiotics for his bad skin and recommended that we bath him with sulfur soap. Looks like this pug had years of neglect, he arrived frail, with tired eyes that still hold hope. He is malnourished, weighing 6.2kgs.

I asked around for some fosterers if they could help with feeding of medication, but none was able to help. In the end, I warded him to a vet with daily care and medication. We named him Bosley. Today is day 9 – we see vast improvement in his appetite, his skin is getting better, and his posture is also improving.

Bosley needs us. He’s an elderly pug who has been neglected for far too long — but he has not been forgotten. This sweet senior deserves comfort, safety, and a loving home.

please see photo of Bosley in Day 1 when we found him and today is Day 9. He needs gentle hands, and a family willing to give him the second chance he’s been waiting for. Your support can help him heal and feel loved again. If you’re able to donate, foster, or even adopt Bosley forever, please reach out.🐾.

thank you

Such a sad story! Before I knew it, you’ve turned 15. Taking care of you over these years has been tough, but I’ve never felt tired of it—I just can’t help wondering how I can keep you with me a little longer.
When you were 12, I noticed your fur gradually losing its luster, as if quietly reminding me: you’re no longer a little puppy. From that moment on, I frantically searched for information online and filled my phone with notes, all to make your senior years more comfortable.
Thirteen was the hardest year for Mom. You suddenly started coughing and struggling to breathe, especially when you got excited—it was terrifying to watch. I took you to the vet, and that’s when we learned you had an enlarged heart. After that day, you became lethargic, and your appetite kept fading. Now you need oxygen therapy and regular medication every day just to sleep soundly. That’s when I truly realized: my baby is really getting old.
At 14, your joints started to degenerate. You limped when you walked and could never sleep well at night. Even though you resisted, I insisted on prying open your mouth to give you medicine every day—because I knew it would make you feel better.
This year, you’re 15, and you can’t even chew your favorite snacks anymore. I’ve been getting creative with soft foods, but you eat less and less… Deep down, Mom knows that for a Teddy, you’re already a champion of longevity, a true senior dog elder.
But every time I look at you sleeping peacefully, I can’t help recalling the day you first came home—the little troublemaker who loved tearing things up and was full of energy. How did you turn gray so quickly?
I know the day we have to say goodbye is drawing near, but I want you to know: no matter how much time we have left, Mom will hold you close, just like you’ve been with me all these 15 years, giving me your whole life.
Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is—with your entire lifetime.

I never intended to be a canine rescuer. I had other plans - to do a PhD and move into academia after retirement. I had even gone to UKM and UM to discuss this with my potential academic supervisors. My path was meant to be different. Then THAT dog that was caught and brutalised by a local council happened. It changed my life and path. Today, at a time when I am supposed to smell the flowers and enjoy the fruits of my 35-year career and hardwork - I have to crack my head and worry about taking care of 400+ dogs. CURSE OR CALLING?

Cruelty hits more than just strays

EVERY time the plight of street dogs is raised on social media, the reaction is depressingly predictable: a conflict will erupt between sympathisers and non-sympathisers.
This familiar pattern often sees critics – the non-sympathisers – dismissing animal rescuers as bizarre people who supposedly care more for dogs than for humans.
Let’s be clear: this label is not only cruel and unjustified, it is a gross misrepresentation of the struggles faced by those who dedicate their lives to keeping street animals safe.
While the noise is often amplified by a few unscrupulous individuals (the so-called “rescuers” who operate for personal gain or a hidden agenda), the vast majority are drawn into this life almost by accident.
They become so deeply entrenched in saving these animals that escape is virtually impossible, even when they desperately wish to step away.
I am the perfect example of this accidental immersion.
With a natural soft spot for dogs and toleration for cats, I was never a planner or an intentional advocate.
The organisation I founded in 2008, Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB), was born from a sudden, inadvertent shock.
It began when I reported for StarMetro on a dog brutally captured and taken to the local council pound.
A good Samaritan rescued the dog, but when no one claimed him, he eventually became mine.
The story, which was supposed to be my last on the subject, quickly spiralled.
Besieged by the practical nightmare of finding a place for the dog and facing an enormous vet bill, a phrase popped into my head: “Malaysian dogs deserve better.”
Without a second thought, I started a blog and posted under a pseudonym, sharing the pound dog’s story and requesting contributions.
The response was overwhelming.
That single incident, that single blog post, led directly to registering MDDB as a proper organisation.
Today, my accidental calling has led to over 400 dogs under my care.
Seventy of them are either paralysed, maimed, blind, geriatric or terminally ill.
I cannot run and I cannot hide from the immense responsibility of caring for these vulnerable lives, even if I wanted to.
Furthermore, through MDDB, we have quietly championed the necessity of palliative care for our dying and terminally ill street rescues.
Yet after 17 years, I am still confused: Was this sheer stupidity, a miscalculated move or genuinely a calling?
I know for a fact that countless other rescuers out there, just like me, were unsuspectingly lured into caring for destitute and badly treated street canines.
So, the next time an online conflict erupts, I urge you to look past the fakes, the opportunists and unnecessary rabble-rousers.
Instead, focus on the people who have genuinely put the welfare of destitute street dogs before their own.
They don’t just need your support; they desperately need your understanding and compassion to counter the cruel accusations that haunt their essential, accidental work.

Rafael Nadal 🎾 sets the internet on fire with a surprising announcement: a $20 million investment to build a true "paradise" for stray dogs 🐕, offering love, care and a home to thousands of abandoned puppies.

In a move that has upset and inspired millions of fans around the world, tennis legend Rafael Nadal has revealed his intention to invest no less than $20 million to build a sanctuary entirely dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs. This large-scale project aims to give these forgotten animals a second chance, providing them with affection, medical attention and an environment where they can thrive sustainably.

Famous for his tenacity on the courts, Nadal now puts that same energy into the service of a cause that is particularly close to his heart: animal protection. The announcement of this initiative made a lot of noise on social networks, where its decision was unanimously welcomed. His ambition is clear: to build a model shelter where distressed dogs will find safety, comfort and dignity.

Fully funded by his own means, the project represents a colossal investment of $20 million. This funding will create a vast, green space where dogs can roam freely, accompanied by specialized facilities for their physical and psychological health.

But the sanctuary will not just welcome animals: it will be designed as a place of global healing. Every dog, whether from the streets or from an abuse situation, will receive comprehensive care provided by veterinary experts and animal welfare advocates. The idea is to create an environment close to their natural habitat, while promoting their rehabilitation and future adoption.

For Nadal, this initiative is nothing but a simple philanthropic gesture. This is an intimate and deeply personal walk. Great lover of animals, and especially of dogs, he confessed to having always been marked by the suffering of the strays crossed during his travels. In his announcement, he said with emotion:
"I have always believed that every animal deserves love and respect. My wish is to give stray dogs a better life, because they too deserve a dignified existence. This project goes beyond charity: it's a mission, a commitment to those who have no voice. »

In addition to offering a shelter, Nadal wants to raise awareness about the problem of abandonment. Far too often handed over to themselves, these animals are sentenced to dramatic living conditions and, sometimes, premature death. His sanctuary is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with willingness and compassion, it is possible to transform destinies.

The reaction was immediate: Celebrities, associations and fans from around the world rallied to salute the gesture. Many see it as a natural extension of his legacy, not only as an exceptional athlete but also as a committed humanist.

Beyond directly helping dogs, Nadal hopes this project will inspire others to take action on their scale. Her sanctuary aspires to be a model of kindness and inspiration, showing that one individual, however they are, can help make a difference.

In a world where celebrities are sometimes criticized for their detachment, Nadal stands out for a concrete, meaningful act. His decision to use his fame and fortune to defend such a universal cause is a testament to the greatness of a rare soul.

When this shelter opens its doors, thousands of dogs will finally find a safe space filled with love and care. The $20 million investment isn't just about the creation of a physical place: it's the promise of emotional renewal for these broken animals.

By choosing to fight for the most vulnerable, Rafael Nadal proves that his champion title goes far beyond the tennis court. With this sanctuary, it sees a brighter future for abandoned dogs and sets an inspiring milestone for generations to come.🥹🙏🌹
