Certified RPO ✅
Proud to be a Certified Radiation Protection Officer (RPO).

X-ray safety isn’t just about rules. It’s about protecting patients, staff, and the public from unnecessary exposure.
Always choose facilities that use certified professionals, follow legislation, and ensure proper X-ray safety measures are in place.

Unnecessary X-ray exposure carries health risks.
Don’t compromise safety to save costs.
Safety first. Always.

Malaysia’s First Award for Excellence in Exotic Medicine 🦜🐍

We are proud to celebrate the EL’S Exotic Award (Hadiah Kecemerlangan EL’S – Perubatan Haiwan Eksotik dan Hidupan Liar), the first award in Malaysia dedicated to recognising DVM students who excel in exotic and wildlife medicine.

This marks a meaningful milestone as Dr. Abraham returned to his alma mater, Universiti Putra Malaysia, to present the award for the third time during the 48th Faculty Prize Presentation Ceremony, representing EL’S Veterinary Centre.

As a pioneer in exotic animal clinic, we chose to give back to the institution nurturing the next generation of veterinarians who share the same passion for exotic animals and wildlife.

By establishing this award, we hope to inspire more veterinarians in Malaysia to pursue excellence in exotic medicine, ensuring a stronger future for wildlife and exotic pet care in our country.

Congratulations to the third recipient from the DVM Class of 2025, we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make in the field. 🧤🌿

We promise we won’t judge you. We just want to save them. 🐍🐰🐢

(⚠️ Note: The scenarios below are educational examples only. The pets in the photos are our superstars and are NOT the specific cases described!)

As a vet team that treats everything from Roborovski hamsters to Giant Tortoises, we rely on you to be their voice.

Animals are masters at hiding pain, and sometimes, owners are afraid to tell us the full story.

But here is the truth: Your secrets are safe with us.
Swipe through to see the 5 things we wish every owner would tell us upfront ➡️

1️⃣ The Real Timeline: "Not eating" for 1 day is vastly different from skipping one meal: especially for small mammals like rabbits!
2️⃣ The Secret Snacks: Did the dog steal a chicken bone? Did the rabbit eat carrots more than usual? Tell us! We aren't here to scold you; we need to know if we are treating a blockage or a bug.
3️⃣ The "Dr. Google" Treatments: Please tell us if you used home remedies or human meds. Current symptoms might be due to toxicity!
4️⃣ Previous History: If another vet prescribed antibiotics last week, bring the records! It saves you money and saves us time.
5️⃣ The "Mystery" Accidents: If he was accidentally dropped or stepped on, please admit it. We need to treat for trauma, not a virus.

💡 Bottom Line: We can't solve the case without your clues. Help us help them!

🤫 Confessions of a Non-Vet at EL'S...

I thought I knew what a vet clinic was like. I expected cute bunnies and birds. Swipe through to see the massive reality check I got in my first month. 👉

The Fun & Weird:
🦜I learned that Birds are angry toddlers with wings!
💩We celebrate p**p! Seeing a rabbit finally p**p is rewarding (iykyk). And finally getting a stool sample for diagnosis is literally a cause for celebration! 🦎🐢

The Shocking & Tragic:
We see things you wouldn't believe all in one day.
🩸 Biology is wild: yes, monkeys (and dogs!) get periods too.
💔 Heartbreaking accidents: Tortoises crushed by parking barrier gates or hit by cars. Birds flying into ceiling fans. Please watch your surroundings and be aware of where your pets are!

The Hard Truths:
🌙 The Hours: Going back late are normal when a life is on the line.
📉 The "Expert" Battle: I learned that sometimes, even 20 years of experience in exotic animal care isn't enough to convince someone. We get called "Unqualified" or "Not a Specialist" because our medical advice contradicts what a "Bogus Vet" claimed. Bogus vets are rampant in Malaysia. These unlicensed individuals treat pets without qualifications. When their illegal treatment fails and the pet becomes critical, they gaslight the owner. They claim WE "misdiagnosed" the pet to cover up their own malpractice. We are left fighting two battles: saving the dying animal, and defending our expertise against a scammer. 💔

🤐 The "Villain" Arc: We get called "Money Hungry" just for following the law. We can't just take a snapshot of medical records, it's against the PDPA. We aren't being difficult; we are following the law.

⚠️ A Real Story Time:
If you visit us, you might notice the paint on our front desk counter looks a bit patched up. That isn't poor workmanship. That damage happened right after we finished our brand new clinic renovation. 🥺
An aggressive client couldn't accept that his severely malnourished civet had passed away, despite our team's desperate efforts to save it. Instead of grieving, he lashed out, damaging our freshly painted front desk and screaming at our staff.

The silent killer most rabbit owners ignore until it’s too late. 🐇🛑

Many owners believe that if they only have male rabbits, castration is optional. This is a dangerous misconception. At EL'S Veterinary Centre, testicular cancer is one of the most common and preventable conditions we treat in rabbits.

Why we recommends early castration:
‼️Cancer Risk Management: Testicular cancer is a significant clinical concern; castration effectively eliminates this specific risk.
‼️ Cryptorchidism: If te**es remain undescended, the statistical likelihood of cancer can increase up to 14x.
‼️ Injury Prevention: It prevents hormonal aggression, which often leads to severe scrotal injuries from fighting.

The EL'S Clinical Standard:
✅ Precision Surgery: We use minimally invasive techniques with incisions around 1cm to promote faster healing.
✅ Refined Pain Protocols: Dr. Abraham uses specific multimodal pain management to ensure patient comfort throughout the perioperative period.
✅ Safety First: Specialized anesthesia and monitoring protocols tailored specifically for exotic species.

Don’t wait for a medical emergency or a fighting injury. Castration isn't just a procedure; it’s an investment in your rabbit’s long-term health and happiness. 🏥✨

When headlines celebrate an 'Avian Vet.' who claims an ONLINE Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and RENTS clinics for surgery, it's a vital reminder: Expertise cannot be downloaded!

The Real Standard Matters: Our veterinarians dedicate 5 years to rigorous, physical DVM education, in and out of Malaysia, which requires a substantial monetary capital investment from students. This is followed by building expertise through extensive clinical practice, and is supported by our significant financial commitment to specialized, permanent facilities and cutting-edge equipment.

Dr. Abraham Gabriel embodies this commitment: He holds a Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVM) in Avian Medicine and Surgery and spent 5 years leading the Avian and Exotic Unit at the UPM Veterinary University Hospital (UVH).

Specialised procedures, like complex avian surgery, demand this comprehensive investment of time, money, and rigor. Choose the highest standard of care for your beloved pet. Choose wisely.
