A colony of stray cats and kittens stay at this abandoned seafood restaurant and near my workplace. Feeding them every evening before heading home. They look healthy and playful.

KOTA KINABALU: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Kota Kinabalu is on the brink of closure due to severe financial constraints, urgently appealing for donations to keep its shelter running.

The non-profit organisation, which has long been a beacon of hope for stray and abandoned animals, is struggling to sustain its operations.

The combination of increased operational costs, including the new minimum wage, soaring veterinary expenses and a continuous influx of rescue cases, has placed SPCA KK in a dire situation.
