Hedgehog uterine tumour surgery 🦔

Clinical sign was only blood in urine. Blood work and ultrasound helped confirm the diagnosis, and surgery was scheduled as early as possible.

Please don’t wait if you notice abnormal bleeding. With small mammals like hedgehogs, waiting can be dangerous. Continuous blood loss can quickly become life threatening. Early diagnosis saves lives. ❤️

This is the second time (the third patient of ours) from JB has been referred to University Putra Malaysia (UPM) for a CT scan using University Veterinary Hospital’s new CT scan machine.

We were advised that CT images obtained near our area may be non diagnostic for smaller patients (few hundred grams) thus, the patient was referred to UPM for imaging, similar to our previous cases.

No Gaba, All DRAMA 😹😹

Here are some ways to help avoid or reduce stress for cats during vet visits :-

1. Pheromones
Use synthetic feline pheromone sprays, such as FELIWAY , inside the carrier before placing your cat in. These sprays mimic natural calming signals and help your cat feel more secure. You can also spray in the vehicle for the transportation.

2. Calming or Anti-anxiety medications
Medications like GABAPENTIN can be effective in reducing anxiety or fear in cats before a vet visit.
Always consult your veterinarian to see if this option is right for your cat and to get a proper dosage instruction.
