Because of their thick, fluffy coat, extra fat is often hidden — making it harder for owners to notice early.

Here’s a simple way to check:

Ideal weight – You can feel the ribs (not see them), with a slight waist
Overweight – Waist starts to disappear, body looks more rounded
Obese – Wide body, heavy movement, easily gets tired

What many owners don’t realize:

Extra weight can lead to heart problems, breathing issues, joint pain, and a shorter lifespan.

The scary part?

Some Shih Tzus still act normal even when they’re already unhealthy — which is why it often gets ignored until it’s serious.

Christmas Day at Eco Home Stay is a busy day. The morning starts bright & early - as you open the door you are bombarded with merry Xmas woofs, happy cheers and so so much love.

We may have to work on this special day but how privileged we are to share it with so many fur kids. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
