Wonderland Zoo Kuala Lumpur is not an ordinary zoo that aims to save the animals that are in need. (circus tortured, captured as pets, black market, starved in zoos) The rescued animals will be kept in Wonderland Zoo with a better environment, different types of animal will be stored in the specific space according to their habitat.

As mentioned, Wonderland Zoo is different from the rest of the zoo, you will be getting a zoo tour guide for a group of 6-8 people, the zoo tour guide will brief you about the rules and regulation and provide any information of the zoo.

Animal-feeding is prohibited to be done by the visitors. It can only be done by the volunteers. Animals will be fed in a specific time to avoid animals to gain more weight than they should be, as they will be released back to the wild eventually.

Majority of the staffs in the zoo are volunteers from different countries. They were either sent by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) or registered under us. Accommodation and meals will be provided for the volunteers. They will be trained for two weeks before they are assigned in different roles, the zoo tour guide, feeder and "babysitter" for the rescued animal juvenile.

Sun Bears listed in “Totally Protected Species” of the Sabah Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997, penalty for offences is an imprisonment up to 5 years AND a fine of RM50,000 to RM250,000.

1997年，在「沙巴野生動物保護憲法」之下，馬來熊已屬「完全受保護」品種。違法者將面臨馬幣50,000至250,000令吉罰款，和被判1年至5年徒刑。
