Highly demanded in China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, Musang King is Malaysia’s top durian variety—prized for its creamy texture, rich flavor, and elegant appearance. Though pricey, its luxurious taste and health benefits make it a worthy treat for durian lovers.
In China, it’s a luxury item—gifted during festivals and sold in premium stores. Also often featured in durian-based desserts, mooncakes, ice cream, and even coffee.
Malaysia has secured intellectual property (IP) protection for Musang King durian, formalizing its status as a uniquely Malaysian product. This reaffirms Malaysia’s exclusive rights to the name and branding, preventing other countries from calling their durians “Musang King”. The GI / trademark prevents misleading use of “Musang King” by growers in other countries.
