The Galaxy Rasbora, aka the Celestial Pearl Danio (Danio margaritatus)

A small, peaceful freshwater fish discovered in 2006 in Myanmar. It's highly prized in aquariums for its striking dark body with pearly white spots, resembling a starry night sky. Growing to about 1-1.5 inches, males are more vibrant with red-orange fins.

Naturally found in shallow, heavily planted pools, they are somewhat shy and thrive in groups of six or more. In an aquarium, they prefer a minimum 10-gallon tank (20+ gallons recommended for larger schools) with dense planting and stable water parameters (pH 6.6-8.0, 22-26°C/72-79°F). They are omnivores, eating small live or frozen foods and crushed flakes. They are good tank mates for other small, peaceful fish and can live 3-5 years with proper care. They are egg-scatterers and can be bred in captivity, though adults may eat their own eggs.
