𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟕 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄
𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃
We are a no-kill dog and cat shelter located in San Miguel de Allende. We are a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a Mexico nonprofit. We have been rescuing and finding homes for dogs and cats since 2020. Last year we had over 300 adoptions.
40 days ago we were wrongfully evicted from our shelter in San Miguel de Allende without any notice by a real estate investment company, Grupo Lova. Grupo Lova has no connection to the property and forged documents to gain control. Armando Lopez and Felix Martinez are the men behind Grupo Lova.
All of our equipment was removed from the shelter and put on the street. But all our dogs and cats have remained inside the shelter. We have camped outside the shelter for the past 40 days and continue to work.
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐄𝐑
We are allowed in twice each day for short periods of time to clean and feed the animals. But it is not enough time and Grupo Lova does not allow enough of our workers inside. Yesterday Grupo Lova only allowed one of our workers into the shelter. The shelter is very dirty and we are not given enough time to give medical care to the dogs in need. The animals are not allowed socialization and are very stressed.
𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒
Since our eviction our focus has been on adoptions. We have found homes for over 50 dogs and cats, but over 90 remain. We are happy to report the recent adoptions of Nila and Noe.
Unfortunately, several dogs have been returned to us through no fault of the dog. This is very challenging for us because we cannot return any dogs to the shelter. We urgently need adopters for these dogs, so please contact us if you can adopt. One of the dogs that was returned, Sky, had been injured, and required surgery costing 18,000 pesos. ($1000 USD).
𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒
Our only concern has been the safety and welfare of our cats and dogs. We have received no assistance from local authorities, but we are seeking a court order to allow us adequate time to care for the cats and dogs inside the shelter. However, due to the recent changes of judges, court personnel, and a new electronic filing system, the courts are behind. We hope for a ruling soon.
𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐒
We continue to have many of the same operating expenses, such as food and workers. We also have the vet bill for Sky in the amount of 18,000 pesos. We have also needed to hire private security to prevent Grupo Lova from handing out our dogs and cats to people with the wrong motives.
Grupo Lova harasses us by calling the police regularly, and we need the security guard to be witnesses. For example, Grupo Lova said that we stole a wheelbarrow, which belongs to us. The police came out and investigated and took the wheelbarrow as evidence. When we call the local authorities for help, nobody responds because they say it is a “private matter.” But when Grupo Lova calls it is no longer a “private matter.”

Somos un refugio para perros y gatos sin sacrificio ubicado en San Miguel de Allende. Somos una organización sin fines de lucro 501(c)(3) de EE. UU. y una organización sin fines de lucro de México. Llevamos rescatando y buscando hogares para perros y gatos desde 2020. El año pasado tuvimos más de 300 adopciones.
Hace 40 días, fuimos desalojados injustamente de nuestro refugio en San Miguel de Allende sin previo aviso por una empresa de inversión inmobiliaria, Grupo Lova. Grupo Lova no tiene ninguna relación con la propiedad y falsificó documentos para obtener el control. Armando López y Félix Martínez son los hombres detrás de Grupo Lova.
Todo nuestro equipo fue retirado del refugio y dejado en la calle. Pero todos nuestros perros y gatos han permanecido dentro del refugio. Hemos acampado fuera del refugio durante los últimos 40 días y seguimos trabajando.

Se nos permite entrar dos veces al día durante breves periodos de tiempo para limpiar y alimentar a los animales. Pero no es tiempo suficiente y Grupo Lova no permite que entren suficientes trabajadores nuestros. Ayer, Grupo Lova solo permitió la entrada de uno de nuestros trabajadores al refugio. El refugio está muy sucio y no se nos da tiempo suficiente para atender médicamente a los perros que lo necesitan. A los animales no se les permite socializar y están muy estresados.
𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒
Desde nuestro desalojo, nos hemos centrado en las adopciones. Hemos encontrado hogares para más de 50 perros y gatos, pero aún quedan más de 90. Nos complace informar de las recientes adopciones de Nila y Noe.
Desgraciadamente, varios perros nos han sido devueltos sin que ellos tuvieran culpa alguna. Esto supone un gran reto para nosotros, ya que no podemos devolver ningún perro al refugio. Necesitamos urgentemente adoptantes para estos perros, así que, si puede adoptar, póngase en contacto con nosotros. Uno de los perros que nos fue devuelto, Sky, estaba herido y necesitaba una operación que costaba 18 000 pesos (1000 dólares estadounidenses).
𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐒 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐒
Nuestra única preocupación ha sido la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros gatos y perros. No hemos recibido ninguna ayuda de las autoridades locales, pero estamos solicitando una orden judicial que nos conceda el tiempo necesario para cuidar de los gatos y perros que se encuentran en el refugio. Sin embargo, debido a los recientes cambios de jueces, personal judicial y un nuevo sistema de archivo electrónico, los tribunales están atrasados. Esperamos que se dicte una sentencia pronto.
𝐆𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐒
Seguimos teniendo muchos de los mismos gastos de funcionamiento, como la comida y los trabajadores. También tenemos la factura del veterinario de Sky por un importe de 18 000 pesos. Además, hemos tenido que contratar seguridad privada para evitar que Grupo Lova entregue nuestros perros y gatos a personas con malas intenciones.
Grupo Lova nos acosa llamando a la policía con regularidad, y los guardias de seguridad son testigos de la conducta de Grupo Lova. Por ejemplo, el Grupo Lova dijo que habíamos robado una carretilla que nos pertenece. La policía acudió, investigó y se llevó la carretilla como prueba. Cuando llamamos a las autoridades locales para pedir ayuda, nadie responde porque dicen que es un «asunto privado». Pero cuando llama el Grupo Lova, ya no es un «asunto privado».
