FHAT Friends Helping Animals Together truly has the 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 and okay, I might be a little biased, but for good reason!

Our team’s commitment starts months before we even hit the ground. From fundraising and collecting supplies for local rescues they bring in the "lionshare" of our clinic funding, their dedication is unmatched. Asking for donations isn't easy, yet they do it with heart to make our mission possible.

Once at the clinic, they dive into long, hot, exhausting days—navigating new roles in unfamiliar places with people and animals they’ve never met. The simple truth is: without these incredible humans, FHAT wouldn't exist. They take their love for animals to the next level, and I am endlessly grateful for their hard work.

We are still buzzing from the energy of our fundraising dinner! Thanks to your incredible support, we raised over 8,000 pesos, which will directly sponsor 25 sterilization surgeries for dogs and cats in Oaxaca with Huellitas de Acero A.C. Puerto Escondido and Dogs of Puerto Angel - DOPA. This is a massive step toward a healthier, happier community for our furry friends.

FHAT Friends Helping Animals Together is thrilled to welcome two new faces to our volunteer family: Michelle Mosher and Debbie Peters! 🐾 Both are embarking on their very first spay/neuter mission with us in Puerto Angel with Dogs of Puerto Angel, and we couldn’t be happier to have their energy on the team.

Michelle is a retired teacher who has shared her life with everything from fish and guinea pigs to horses and hounds—she currently spoils her 10-year-old rescue Lab, Molly.

Joining her is Debbie Peters who has always held a special place in her heart for animals and has nothing but respect for the vital work being done at sterilization clinics.

We are so lucky to have these two compassionate women transitioning their hearts for service into the clinic to make a real difference for the pets and families of Mexico. Welcome to the team, Michelle and Debbie!"

Walking in was a 'bums rush' (pun intended!) as the welcoming committee of about 30 dogs crowded us, barking their greetings. But once the excitement settled, all they wanted was a little love and attention.

There are currently over 100 dogs at Huellitas de Acero A.C. Puerto Escondido. Seeing 100+ dogs in one place is a stark reminder of a massive global crisis: pet overpopulation. 🌍

Right now, there are an estimated 900 million dogs worldwide, with hundreds of millions living as strays. Shelters like Huellitas are on the front lines of a battle that feels endless. One unspayed female dog and her offspring can lead to 67,000 dogs in just six years.

Caring for these animals is incredibly expensive—food, vet care, fencing, and flea/tick prevention add up fast. 💸
