Expected to be midsize.
Estimated DOB: 12/15/24
Meet Vance & VALE. Both puppies are very sweet, docile and extremely affectionate. They get along well with adults, kids and other dogs. They enjoy walks on the beach and are learning to enjoy the water. They run and play fetch and equally enjoy lounging with their humans.

History: This puppy’s momma showed up at a local home. The family realized she was pregnant and didn’t want her to give birth out in the cold and alone. After the mom gave birth, they contacted Cortez Rescue but we were full. The family graciously agreed to foster the mom and her 6 pups until we could find them homes. These sweet doggies have been raised outside of the rescue and very well socialized. They are the remaining 2 from the litter of 6.

🍀🍒Black Dogs Wait the Longest 🍀🍒— *****Let’s Change That!****
At Cortez Rescue & Outreach here in beautiful Baja California Sur, we see it all too often: amazing, sweet, adoptable dogs with sleek black coats getting overlooked again and again.

This quiet phenomenon is known as Black Dog Syndrome, and it’s real. Whether it’s because they’re harder to photograph or just hidden in the shadows of the shelter, black dogs are often the last to be chosen — even when they’re perfect in every other way.

But here’s the truth:
🐾 A black dog will light up your home just as much as any other.
🐾 They’re loving, loyal, goofy, and grateful — especially when you give them the second chance they’ve waited so patiently for.
🐾 Their color doesn’t define them. Their heart does.

So if you’re considering adoption, don’t pass by the dark-coated beauties curled up quietly in the corners. One of them might just be your ride-or-die beach buddy, hiking pal, or snuggle partner for life.

Adopt the underdog. Love beyond the label. Choose the dog in the shadows — and let them shine.

👉 See our adoptables at www.cortezrescue.org. 🌟 Cortez Rescue is currently waiving the transportation fees to make it easier for you to welcome one of these beauties into your family. Don’t miss this opportunity to adopt one of our black pups. 🐾💜🙏🏼
