Last week, our team was out across several communities in Lilongwe, including Areas 23, 25, 49, M'gona, and Chinsapo, running pop-up rabies vaccination clinics for dogs and cats.

The turnout was encouraging. Owners came out, dogs got vaccinated, and that matters more than it might sound. Rabies is still a real risk in our communities, and every dog vaccinated is a step in the right direction.

Thank you to everyone who brought their dogs forward, and to Welttierschutzgesellschaft - WTG e.V. for making this work possible.

Its World Donkey Day today (8th May)! We are celebrating the hardworking, intelligent donkeys that quietly support livelihoods every day, while also recognizing ongoing efforts to improve their welfare in Lilongwe and surrounding areas.
Today, our team ran a donkey clinic in Taiza, Mngwangwa-Lilongwe, where we treated donkeys that had been working through the harvest season, helping them recover and stay healthy. With support from Animal Aid Abroad, we’ve also been able to provide veterinary care, share humane donkey welfare knowledge with farmers, and strengthen better animal care practices in local communities.
To help donkeys during the dry season, Working Animals International has supported our efforts to promote access to clean water through the maintenance of water troughs and the distribution of hay, ensuring donkeys have the nutrition and hydration they need when natural resources are scarce.
