Trapping steals freedom, a fundamental right we believe every living being should have, and no tradition, hobby, or election strategy can make this morally acceptable.

Confining a wild bird to a cage for human desire or political gain denies it the ability to fly freely, migrate, socialise, and live in its natural environment. No cage can replicate the open sky or the natural behaviours birds are biologically driven to perform.

We had already raised concerns about it.

When reports fail to result in meaningful action, when fines are merely symbolic, and when authorities cite limitations in their remit, one question becomes unavoidable: does the law truly apply equally to everyone?

A wild, highly intelligent and deeply social animal cannot be left in inadequate conditions while responsibility disappears between departments and bureaucratic loopholes.

❗This chimpanzee must be immediately removed from private custody and relocated to a reputable sanctuary where their complex social, physical, and emotional needs can finally be met.

Suffering does not become acceptable because the person responsible has influence or resources.
Animals must not pay the price of institutional inaction.

Rome and Barcelona have successfully introduced nicarbazin-treated corn to manage pigeon populations 🕊️🌾 This reduces egg hatchability without killing or permanently sterilising pigeons who are simply trying to survive in environments humans have built around them 🌍

At a time when Malta is preparing to kill pigeons, it feels important to remember who they are.

Cher Ami was a homing pigeon during World War I who flew through gunfire to deliver a message that saved 194 soldiers. He was shot in the chest, lost a foot, and still made it home.

He was honoured for his intelligence, resilience, and bravery.

Pigeons are capable of complex navigation, memory, and problem-solving.

We must find ways to coexist with our fellow animals. Unnecessary killing should never be an option
