CAT VILLAGE GROUP SLIEMA
8th June 2021
This morning the Sliema Mayor Mr Anthony Chircop and the Executive Secretary,Mr Anthony Attard, held a meeting with representatives of the Cat Village Sliema and Animal Guardians Malta on site, in the Sliema Independence Garden.
This was a follow up to a meeting held between both sides way back in February 2021 :-
Today, the following points were agreed upon :-
Attractive cat shelters and feeding stations , financed by the Sliema lc, are to be ready by August 2021, and placed neatly in the former cats' territory but between the hedges.
The number of cctv cameras in the Independence garden shall increase in number so as to safeguard the wellbeing of the cats , as well as to make sure that there shall be no vandalism or misuse of the Independence Garden Sliema .
Emphasising the fact that the Cat Village Group never received any Vet Vouchers or Food Vouchers or any form of donations from the Sliema Local Council, to care for the Independence Garden cats, it was suggested to the Sliema Mayor that :-
Cat food vouchers are issued as soon as possible for Sliema feeders, including the Cat Village Group who take care of the Independence Garden cats.
The Sliema Local Council was also encouraged to issue more Vet Vouchers for Sliema feeders registered with the local council.
Cause as Mr Anthony Attard himself stated , the 40 vouchers which he had, were all handed out by himself to Sliema stray cat feeders .
Animal Guardians Malta said it was proud that it was being able to give its support to the Sliema Local Council, by taking any cats needing medical care to their vets, keeping them for recovery at their sanctuary, as well as having expenses covered by kind people who support the Cat Village Group.
The Cat Village Group thanked the Sliema Mayor for his support and encourage the public to make good use of the Garden which is a popular area for relaxation.
