Riding Like a Mongolian… One Hand-Carved Birch Root at a Time
Every year, our brave Gobi Gallop riders take on 700 kilometers across the wild Mongolian steppe—and as part of that journey, at least 20 kilometers must be ridden in a traditional Mongolian saddle.
It’s a challenge that connects riders to centuries of nomadic tradition… and this year, we have one valiant rider aiming to go all 700 kilometers in nothing but a Mongolian saddle!
And this isn’t just any saddle.
Hand-carved from birch root, finished with hand-stitched leather, and featuring traditional brass stirrups, this year’s Gobi Gallop saddle has just been completed by a master craftsman at Narantuul Market here in Ulaanbaatar.
This weekend, it will head out to Horse Trek Mongolia to be tested on a Mongolian horse—making sure it’s ready to carry our riders on their life-changing adventure.
Riding in a Mongolian saddle isn’t just part of the experience.
It is the experience.
It challenges you to ride like a true nomad—and offers a rare connection to the heart of Mongolian culture, history, and adventure.
Get ready, riders. The Gobi Gallop 2025 saddle is ready for you.
