Helping strays in Ohrid, Macedonia - Ohrid Strays Based on donations & volunteer work. Guys this is us - OHRID STRAYS

We are a small organisation in Ohrid, North Macedonia (Europe) lead by two people. Like us.

Non-profit Organisation from Ohrid, Macedonia helping stray dogs, cats, birds and other animals in need by feeding, treating, sterilizing, vaccinating, bringing them to the vet, and finding them forever homes. Macedonia is experiencing an epidemic of stray dogs. Unfortunately, the government does not do anything about this. There are some public “shelters” that are in such poor condition that most

of the animals die due to the lack of resources. There are individuals who have taken it upon themselves to volunteer and save animals. We fundraise and receive donations from people but it is definitely not enough. We need help and support for neutering, feeding, healing, vet expenses and private pensions until we find them happy homes. Us volunteers we work so hard to send as many dogs as possible to other parts of Europe,UK where they get adopted. If you like a dog/cat from our page or instagram page we will try to make it possible to get to you across the world. We also look for injured animals and we bring them to get the proper care they need at the vet. Likewise, if we find an animal that has been poisoned we intervene and bring them to the vet to save their life. Not only do these strays need medical help and protection, they also need to eat. They are starving to death. They are skin and bones covered in mange. Struggling to make it all work, we closed our shelter in February 2022 and curently working with foster homes,pensions and bringing them to our own homes to save as much animals as possible. 🐾 Update on our Cane Corso girl ❤️
We are happy to share that she is doing well — slowly gaining weight, getting stronger, and showing her true personality: gentle, affectionate, and full of love. ❤️
It’s hard to believe this is the same dog who was once abandoned, used for puppies, and left alone on the streets of Macedonia — scared, hungry, and in pain. Even after being adopted, she was abandoned again.
💔 She is still fighting serious conditions:
• Hip dysplasia
• Arthritis
• And life-threatening heartworms that have been damaging her heart
She has already started treatment, and every small improvement means so much. But her journey is far from over.
💸 We are still missing funds for her ongoing care, and another vet visit is just around the corner.
Without continued treatment, her progress could quickly be at risk — and the heartworms will continue to harm her.
🙏 Please help us continue fighting for her.

Transformed Cane Corso girl ❤️

A month has passed since this baby girl was rescued from the streets, abandoned by many many “owners” , used for breeding and abused for her kindness.

We hoped to bring better news by now in regards of the funds we have raised but she still needs your help. Please take a moment to read her story.

💔 She is still fighting every day, with the bad things that left scars on her

She suffers from hip dysplasia, arthritis, and heartworms that are slowly damaging her heart.

Despite everything, she remains gentle, loving, and trusting. ❤️

⚠️ Latest update:
She has been back at the vet and received her Imicide injection, an essential step in treating the heartworms.

During the visit, additional biochemistry tests were required, increasing the cost, also Nexguard was bought.
Few days ago, I was also asked when the payment at the vet will be made, as the bill is still outstanding.

💰 So far, €350 has been collected, but we are still a bit behind from the goal.

What we need to coves:
• Her initial vet visit
• The Imicide treatment
• The latest check-up and Nexguard

📅 This must be paid before her next appointment, or her treatment cannot continue.

🙏 We are incredibly grateful for every single donation ❤️
But we are still far from the amount needed, and time is critical.

We are doing everything we can — but we cannot do this alone.

Without treatment, the heartworms will continue to damage her heart.

🏡 After her treatment, we are also searching for a foster or forever home where she can receive proper care, including physiotherapy — something she cannot get here.

Cane Corso girl update ❤️

We wish her story was getting easier to tell — but she still needs help. Please take a moment for her.
She was discarded like she was nothing. Used for breeding, abandoned on the streets in Macedonia, left cold, hungry, and scared. Even after being adopted once, she was thrown away again.
💔 Today, she is still fighting to survive.
She is battling hip dysplasia, arthritis, and heartworms that are slowly damaging her heart.
Despite everything she’s been through, she is incredibly kind, loving, and trusting. ❤️
⚠️ Important update:
She has now been back at the vet and received her Imicide injection, which is essential for treating the heartworms.
Unfortunately, this treatment is not yet paid.
During the visit, additional biochemistry tests were needed, which increased the total cost even more.
💸 At this moment, we are missing €550
This amount covers:
• her initial visit
• the Imicide treatment
• and the latest check-up with tests
📅 We urgently need to pay this before her next check-up — otherwise her treatment cannot continue.
🙏 Thanks to your kindness, €181 has already been raised ❤️
But we are still far from what she needs, and time is not on her side.
We are doing everything we can — but we cannot do it alone.
Without this treatment, the heartworms will keep destroying her heart.

🐾 Hello from the abandoned Cane Corso… do you remember this girl we posted two weeks ago?

⚠️ A small recap:
She was thrown away like she didn’t matter… please don’t scroll past her.
This sweet girl from Macedonia was used for puppies, abandoned, and left alone on the streets – shivering, starving, and terrified. Even after being adopted once, she was discarded again.
💔 Now she is fighting for her life.
She suffers from hip dysplasia, arthritis, and deadly heartworms that are still attacking her heart every single day.
And yet… she is nothing but love.
She is gentle, affectionate, and slowly gaining weight and strength. ❤️
💸 We are still missing €439 for her life-saving treatment.
📅 Tomorrow she must go to the vet + we need NexGard (€20) and to pay her check-up.
🙏 Thank you to everyone who has donated so far – you are the reason she is still fighting. Amazing 181€ we raised ❤️
But we cannot continue to do this alone.
We are the only ones she has.

Ada’s happy ending 💛
After a whole year of living in very difficult conditions due to an emergency in her family, Ada’s life has finally changed for the better.
Today, she is safe, loved, and happily adopted in Slovenia 🇸🇮 Where two of our previous rescuers, Aksa and Maja, have found their forever homes long time ago, in the hands of our dear friends.
From hardship to hope, Ada’s journey is a reminder of how powerful compassion can be. She now has the warm home, care, and happiness she always deserved.

Five years ago in the UK, a very special disabled dog found her forever home. 🐾❤️
What once felt uncertain turned into something truly beautiful — a perfect home filled with love, patience, and understanding. Watching her grow, feel safe, and live the life she deserves has been one of the greatest gifts.
Today we’re feeling incredibly grateful. Grateful for everyone who supported her journey, believed in her, and helped make this possible. And most of all, grateful for her amazing mom, whose love and dedication gave her the life every dog deserves. 🐶💕
Five years later, and our hearts are still full. Thank you to everyone who made this story possible. 🥰
