In early January (2025), we brought Trio and two other cats from the āKotor Cat Parkā to the apartment because Danijela said they needed extra care. It was extremely cold and rainy, and Trio had respiratory issues and bad diarrhea. He got better and started playing. About 10 days in, he was neutered and vaccinated.
Trio improved but he seemed a little depressed. He had two semi-solid offers for adoption here in Kotor, but we didnāt pursue them because we wanted to make sure he didnāt have any chronic illness. We didnāt want to put his new family under stress or in any kind of dilemma. More importantly, we didnāt want him to get dumped again if he got sick, and dumped somewhere where Danijela and Branka wonāt see him, and think everything is fine.
Trio is in Kitty Heaven and no longer suffering. We brought him high up the mountain away from this cruel world. We gave him a bright yellow flower and a can of Fancy Feast Tuna Pate.
Trio loved chicken so I brought a container of roasted chicken for his friends at the āCat Parkā when I went there to release the boy we neutered yesterday. All the kitties got to eat some and we made sure the blind black kitty got some too.
With every cat hovering over the container, I got another chance to confirm that every one of them has an ear tip - a marking of having been neutered. It was a bittersweet afternoon. What a relief; even though we know a new cat will soon appear, and with kitten season approaching, many will be dumped there.
Without the extreme pain and lethargy due to FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), I think Trio got to enjoy waking up to this view of the Kotor Bay this morning. Rest in Peace, Trio. You didnāt deserve to die like this, and you definitely didnāt deserve to be born into this cruel situation.
