Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir was founded when Le Coeur sur la Patte rescued 750 dogs from the city pound after their TNVR program was stopped. The city had collected all the dogs from the street and they were living in very poor and overcrowded conditions. She found new premises and started work on making them safe and suitable for the dogs. In September 2020 we rescued a further 300 dogs (includ
ing 30 puppies) from the city pound. These dogs were kept in terrible conditions without adequate food. You may have seen the videos of conditions in the city pound. We had to find new premises to accommodate the dogs and make them safe, employ more staff and of course vaccinate and sterilise the dogs and keep on looking after them. In fact everything we do depends on your donations
Since January 2021 we have rescued from the pound and streets of Agadir over 200 more dogs. SARA exists to look after the 1100 plus animals in our three refuges. Le Coeur sur la Patte will continue to work for a TNVR Scheme in Agadir as we believe that this is the only way that the street dog population can be controlled and rabies eradicated. Without this scheme the cycle of overpopulation and street culls will continue. Le Coeur sur la Patte has received grant funding from SPCAI and BBF . CSPA will also start an education and awareness campaign to try and encourage responsible dog ownership and a better awareness of the role that vaccinated and neutered street dogs can play in the security and safety of the neighbourhoods.
