Every journey comes to an end and our time together ran out on April 17th when Frost had to leave us. In the middle of March, we brought him to the vet for a check-up because of a strange cough that had appeared over a few days. That’s when we received the devastating news, Frost had lung cancer.
We didn’t know how much time we had left, so we chose to spend every moment we could by his side. In his final month, we filled his days with the things he loved the most like long walks, fresh air, and all the little treats he could still enjoy, even as his appetite slowly faded. Frost was the most social and friendly dog, always happy to meet everyone, a complete opposite of his humans who were introverted for the most part, he brought so many people into our lives.
Even though we hadn’t been very active on his Instagram in recent years, it never meant he stopped living his happy, carefree life, it's just that life and priorities changed, so we only posted on his birthdays and from time to time. We started Frost's Instagram account for fun like many, but also like a personal photo gallery that we can open and easily go through years and see how he grew up and adventures he had.
It's hard to accept that he's no longer with us, we still miss him every day. He was our first dog since becoming adults, he was part of so many important events in our lives, we basically grew up together. Frost always had such good health and he looked incredibly good for his age, he was often mistaken by a puppy even in his last years because of how energetic and full of life he was. We really thought that we would have more time together, more adventures to go on but I guess life had different plans, sadly. The only consolation is knowing that he is no longer in pain. We are incredibly thankful that we had enough time to create some keepsakes for us, do our last photoshoot together as a family and say goodbye to our friends and that he held on long enough to celebrate his 12th birthday.
Rest in peace... we hope you’re somewhere free, running, exploring, and sniffing to your heart’s content, just like you always loved to do.
