Behind every working dog stands a slightly crazy person whose dogs have become a way of life, someone who arranges much of their life around their dogs’ wellbeing.

I stand behind three working dogs, and just last year I competed with all of them in different disciplines. So who am I? I’m the owner of three Dutch Shepherds, a cynologist, my dogs’ trainer and handler, as well as a breeder and kennel owner.

I’ve had a dog since I was 13 years old, but my journey into the world of working dogs started because of my brother’s police service dog - a KNPV Dutch Shepherd named Demon. That was when I first discovered the breed and decided I wanted one myself. Before getting my first Dutch Shepherd, I completed a year-long foundation course in cynology, and right before my final exams I brought home my first Dutch Shepherd from the Netherlands my Noke.

That’s how our active dog sports life began: IPO, agility, dog shows, and later also IFH. In 2020, I brought Harpuna from the Czech Republic, and suddenly I had two working dogs and everything doubled. In early 2022, my first litter was born, and one puppy Samurai stayed with us. Gradually, Samurai became my main working dog, while I continue to actively work with Harpun and Noki as well. All of my dogs hold multiple working titles.

Over the past 10 years, I have trained, passed exams, and competed in many dog sports: IGP, IFH, agility, Rally Obedience, and mantrailing. I have competed in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands, and Finland, including two World Championships. We have failed and we have succeeded, but even after failures, I always get back up and start again.

My dogs have also achieved excellent results in dog shows all of them are Baltic Show Champions, Noke holds the CIB title, while Samurai has both CIB and CIE titles.

But the most important thing in all of this is my dogs’ wellbeing, making sure they live active, happy lives and stay healthy. Sport will never be more important than my dogs’ welfare. If one of my dogs is not successful in a certain sport, I will find something better suited for them, something they truly enjoy and can succeed in.

Over the years, I’ve gained enormous experience and knowledge about dog health and training. We have already had two litters and are now expecting our third litter of puppies. I’m primarily focused on sport, which is why my litters are no more frequent than once every two years. I also strongly believe that a dog should prove itself in sport or work before breeding, at least by passing first-level working exams.

That’s who I am - standing behind my dogs and making sure they have the very best life possible. ā¤ļø

Noke (Carlijn v.Breezands Bravoure) is now 10 years old.

And it’s been 10 years since I stepped into the world of dog sports. Noke is my first Dutch Shepherd and my first working dog. I still remember searching for a puppy, finding her breeder who agreed to trust me with one, and making the trip to the Netherlands to bring her home. She comes from the kennel with more than 40 years experience of breeding Dutch Shepherds. And she is very first FCI Dutch Shepherd in Latvia.

The beginning wasn’t easy because I lacked knowledge and experience. But from day one, and still today, Noke has always been by my side.

We’ve done it all - IGP, agility, mantrailing, rally obedience, shows, trail ridings and walks with my horse, long hikes, and of course, tracking. We’ve had successes, and we’ve had failures. But in tracking, Noke always shined. We have competed in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Finland. šŸ’«

And this dog - the one many of my training partners never saw as a ā€œrealā€ working dog - took me to my first World Championship. It was also the first (and still the only) FCI IGP-FH World Championship where Latvia was represented and very successfully.

Noke is also the mother of my first litter (and again first litter of Dutch Shephers in Latvia), the mother of Samurai, and soon she will become a grandmother to the C litter.

She also holds the record for the most impressive veterinary bills.😁

Still today, she is the most experienced and successful IGP-FH dog.šŸ†

And now, Noke is a senior — enjoying forest walks, sleeping on soft pillows, and good food.ā¤ļø

My ladies are celebrating their birthdays today - Noke (Carlijn v.Breezands Bravoure) turns a perfect 10, and Harpuna (de Alphaville Bohemia) is 6.šŸŽ‰

Time flies way too fast. It feels like just yesterday Noke was a puppy and a young dog, training and preparing for exams and competitions. And now she’s reached her senior years, now she’ll even be able to attend dog shows for free.

As for Harpuna… nothing has changed at 6 years old. I was told she’d calm down after 3 years, then after 5. Nope - nothing changes. Even two weeks before giving birth to her puppies, she is still running around like a tornado.

Happy birthday, and wishing you both strong health! šŸ¾šŸŽ‰

šŸ’„It’s time to introduce the parents of our upcoming litter.

The father, Admiral Stripy Daemon (Eddy Fly Dogs Attak x Carlijn v. Breezand’s Bravoure), a.k.a. Samurai, is the very first puppy from my first litter. He is a strong, confident, and well-balanced dog with a clear head, great working spirit, and an excellent, friendly temperament.

Samurai has strong food and prey drive, powerful protection work and a full, firm grip. He is very social and curious, and at home he’s a true ā€œstalker,ā€ he is interested in everything and always wants to be involved. In new environments, he remains calm and confident, has plenty of travel experience and is well accustomed to staying in hotels.

He has already passed the most important working dog exams IGP3 and IFH3 and has also competed in Rally Obedience. As a confident male, he sometimes has a mind of his own; while he is very eager to work, he occasionally likes to show his opinion.

Samurai is extremely friendly with people and non-aggressive towards other dogs, showing no signs of fear. Walks with him are very relaxed, he constantly keeps an eye on me, and I rarely need to recall him. Even while exploring, he always stays close.

He truly is an exceptional dog - very sweet and easygoing at home, yet an outstanding worker on the field.

Samurai comes from strong FCI Dutch Shepherd working lines. His father, Eddy Fly Dogs Attak, is an outstanding IGP Rescue dog, while his mother, Carlijn v. Breezand’s Bravoure, is the most successful IFH dog in Latvia. His grandfathers, Holland Messi v. le Dobry and Boyd’s Bullriding Glenmore, are legendary IPO dogs.

šŸ’Ŗ By the age of 4, he has already passed multiple working tests: BH-VT, RO2, FPr1, IGP3, and IFH3, and has successfully competed in numerous trials.

šŸ† He also has an impressive show career: Latvia JCH, Latvia CH, Estonia CH, Lithuania CH, Baltic CH, 2ƗJCACIB, 6ƗCACIB, C.I.B., and C.I.E.

šŸ’„It’s time to introduce the parents of our upcoming litter.

🧔The mother, Harpuna de Alphaville Bohemia (Holland Mack v. le Dobry x Arlette Alphaville Bohemia), is incredibly beautiful, elegant, and graceful female. However, appearances can be deceiving - despite her feminine look, she is very strong and powerful.

Harpuna is highly active, high arousal, with a strong drive and very high prey drive, she loves to chase moving objects and always ready to work. Impressive jumps, strong protection work, full grip, loves to fight.

This lady is a true wild spirit. She gives everything 200%, which can sometimes be a challenge. She can be very intense in her expressions and often acts first, then thinks. However she has remarkable flexibility and excellent body control. Even when she runs at high speed in the forest or on the training field, seemingly without watching where she’s going, she never gets injured. And she has incredible stamina, it feels like she’s a power bank that never needs recharging.

At home, Harpuna is usually relaxing on the couch. She very affectionate and loving, really enjoying cuddles and hugs. But outside, she can turn into a real predator.

She is very social in different environments, non-aggressive, and friendly with both people and other dogs. She shows no signs of fear. With her previous litter, she proved to be a very caring and devoted mother. It is worth noting that in her B litter, she passed on many of her qualities and traits to her puppies.

It is important to highlight that Harpuna comes from strong FCI Dutch Shepherd working lines, featuring several well-known names. Her father, Holland Mack v. le Dobry, is an excellent IGP dog; her grandmother, Lady v. le Dobry, is a multiple show winner; and her great-great-grandfather, Boyd’s Bullriding Glenmore, is a legendary IPO dog.

šŸ’Ŗ She has passed multiple working exams: BH-VT; IGP1; SPr 3 (C3); A3 (FPr3); IFH1, and has competed in numerous trials.

šŸ’« Dog show titles: Latvia JCH, Latvia CH, Estonia CH, Lithuania CH, Baltic CH, R.CACIB.
